Chapter 636
Having said that, Flint turned and left with his entourage. He saw no need for haste in Ashton’s demise.
Six days was plenty of time to set up a total death trap and leave Ashton’s reputation in the dirt.
He intended to show every faction in Javonbury that he was the undisputed ruler of the criminal underworld and that his word was absolute law.
It wasn’t long before the Apex Arena at the military base cleared out as the crowd scattered, with some gamblers clutching their heads and wailing in despair.
Ashton had no sympathy for the gamblers, as this massive shift in capital dealt a severe blow to the factions headed by the Dominion Vanguard, which certainly gave the Legion a better hand in the fight for Javonbury.
He understood the situation perfectly. He knew that if he wanted absolute control over Javonbury, he would have to break the Dominion Vanguard, his greatest adversary from the very beginning.
He shook his head and pushed the thought aside. He turned his gaze back to Leona, who was dressed in a striking red dress, and was once again struck by her Wyvernborne lineage. He knew in that instant that Leona was one of the chosen maidens he couldn’t afford to let slip away.
Ashton’s Drakell technique and Drakeborne lineage flared up the closer he got to Leona. Responding in kind, the Wyvernborne lineage within Leona began to stir and awaken. Their eyes locked, and in that shared gaze, a powerful, unspoken emotion began
to swell between them.
“Did you manipulate the odds on purpose just to secure a windfall for the Legion, Ashton? Did you know from the start that you were going to take Clay down?” Leona asked, her expression brimming with intrigue.
Upon the mention of Clay, Ashton finally realized that his cash cow had already been hauled away. He couldn’t help but wonder if that wretch was good for another round of exploitation.
He had spared Clay for that exact reason–hoping for another “surprise” that would line his pockets and leave him set for life.
Ashton asked warily, “Did you lose out on the bets? You’d better not expect me to reimburse you!”
Leona smiled faintly, revealing her two little canines. “I suffered no loss. On the contrary, I gained a great fortune! I actually have you to thank for that!”
Ashton was momentarily stunned, as it seemed like the chosen maiden with the Wyvernborne lineage had gambled on him, a move he hadn’t seen coming.
“I’ll be staying in the Legion for the next year, so I’ll be looking forward to your guidance, Ashton!” Leona extended her delicate
hand.
Ashton shook hands with Leona and immediately felt a scorching heat surging through him, causing his Drakeborne lineage to become more turbulent than ever. He stared at Leona with a predatory glint, looking as though he might consume her whole.
