Chapter 638
Upon hearing that, Ashton’s heart sank, a wave of restless anxiety washing over him.
Wanda, seeing Ashton’s distressed expression, smiled faintly and continued, “I mean, even if the Curios Chamber doesn’t have it, I know for a fact that someone in Javonbury has a Septem–Leaf Ganoderma in their private collection.
“You see, the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma is a top–tier spiritual medicine for repairing damaged divine souls.”
“Who has the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma?” Ashton asked, his eyes instantly brightening.
“Do you still remember George Moore, the richest man in Javonbury, of whom I spoke back then? He’s the one who has been keeping the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma in his private collection all this time,” Wanda replied.
“I’ll seek him out now!” Ashton declared, disregarding the state of his own injured body. He couldn’t just stand by and watch Lawrence die. He was going to give it everything he had, even if the odds were a million to one.
“Hold on!” Wanda exclaimed, stepping quickly in front of Ashton to block his path.
She then said with a smile, “You know very well that the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma is incredibly precious. Do you truly intend to seize it by force if George refuses to hand it over, Ashton?”
“If it comes down to it and I’ve got no other choice, then I shall do what must be done,” Ashton replied gravely.
Upon seeing the murderous resolve in Ashton’s eyes, Wanda whispered, “You shouldn’t underestimate the richest man in Javonbury, Ashton!
“There’s a saying around here–families come and go like the tide, but the richest man in Javonbury is a fixture. George’s position has remained unchallenged for the past 30 years. Do you have any idea what kind of power it takes to stay there that long?”
Ashton felt a jolt of surprise as his interest in George deepened. He knew that to remain the richest man, one had to have a hand in both legal and illegal circles, wielding enough authority to guard such a vast estate.
However, the Moore family was famously low–key, barely leaving a footprint in Javonbury.
He asked curiously, “How does George stack up against the Sage in terms of raw power, Wanda?”
Wanda pondered for a moment. “That’s a tough call. If I had to guess, I’d say George might actually be more formidable compared to the Sage.”
“Oh?” Ashton was genuinely taken aback this time. “Where does George stand in terms of cultivation level, Wanda?”
Wanda shook her head, replying, “George’s exact cultivation level is a mystery. There was once a story that circulated, stating that a semi–divine realm expert attempted to break into the Moore residence with malicious intent and was never heard from
again.
“You see, the Moore family has always maintained a reputation for being completely inscrutable. If you’re planning to seize that Septem–Leaf Ganoderma through violence, you’d better abandon that thought immediately, Ashton.”
“How else am I supposed to get my hands on the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma, then?” Ashton asked.
Wanda smiled radiantly and asked, “Have you already forgotten the matter I mentioned back then, Ashton?”
“What matters?” Ashton asked.
“George’s daughter, Faye, is still in a coma. Her life hangs in the balance. You gave your word that you would accompany me to visit her. Have you truly cast that promise aside so easily, Ashton?” Wanda shot Ashton a resentful glance.
Ashton’s eyes brightened again. “You mean Faye, your best friend and the most beautiful woman in Javonbury?”
