Chapter 652

Ashton felt a spark of attraction, sensing that destiny had brought him to the person he was meant to be with.
He, however, quickly snapped out of it with a sudden shiver and banished these dangerous thoughts from his mind.
He knew that unfinished chapters tended to recur. Fate would place him in the same circumstances repeatedly until he finally offered a new reaction.
Ashton had sacrificed everything for Roxy ten years ago, sacrificing his own identity and confusing his submissiveness for deep love. He was now fully aware and resolved never to be blinded by love again, intending to be his own person from now on.
He surmised that the attraction he felt now was just a passing feeling. After all, many women had stirred his heart before.
He immediately reined in his feelings. He shifted his gaze away from Faye, his expression becoming unreadable and calm. He was done overthinking–he would simply trust his instincts and let nature take its course.
“You’re finally awake, Faye! You’ve scared the life out of me!”
Upon seeing Faye awake, Josie burst into tears of relief. She lunged forward and embraced Faye, her voice thick with sorrow and affection while saying, “You’ve been in a coma for more than a year, Faye! I was so restless I couldn’t sleep at all!
“Your father and I have exhausted every resource, but nothing worked, so we just lived in a state of constant grief, watching your life fade away. I was convinced you would never wake up again.
“I had even decided that if you really don’t make it, I would follow you to the grave, Faye!”
“I’m fine now, Mom. It’s all over now. I’m going to spend every day by your side from now on,” Faye said, her gaze becoming tender as she gently patted Josie’s shoulder to comfort her.
Faye sighed inwardly. She hadn’t foreseen that her attempt to break through the divine realm would almost cost her everything.
“I was too impatient, as breaking through with the Phoenixborne lineage is a major challenge, and I still lack the necessary catalyst to reach the divine realm.
“Who was it that saved me, though? That sensation just now–tingling and electric–nearly caused my Phoenixborne bloodline to spiral out of control…”
She was still weak, but she managed to glance at the people in the room with a sharp gaze. She cast a scathing look at Ashton. A blush of shame crept onto her cheeks, as she had never been touched so inappropriately before.
She then spotted the Heavenly Medical Pavilion robes worn by Tristan and the others and asked, “Did the people from the Heavenly Medical Pavilion save me, Mom?”
Josie snorted dismissively. “That bunch of people from the Heavenly Medical Pavilion are nothing but frauds! You were saved by Ashton Gray, the talented young man Wanda introduced to us. He’s the only one in this room who deserves to be called a miracle doctor!”
She hesitated for a moment, her eyes darting around guiltily, before she continued resolutely, “Ashton is also your fiance. You two should get married as soon as possible! Your father and I want to have a grandchild soon, Faye!”
In that instant, everyone in the room fell silent, and a sudden chill swept through the crowd.
Wanda glanced between Faye and Ashton, suppressing a smirk at the thought of the absolute disaster this was going to be. Tristan and the others looked murderous, particularly Francis, whose sense of humiliation deepened as his rage peaked.
George scowled but held his tongue. Ashton was taken aback, realizing that Josie actually meant what she said.
“What are you talking about, Mom?” Faye gasped, her expression one of utter disbelief.
She had barely survived her failed attempt to reach the divine realm, only to wake up and find out that she had been betrothed to
