Chapter 691
Ashton laughed, then boldly reached out and tilted Leona’s chin up with his hand.
“I won’t lose,” he said.
Before she could snap at him, he slipped past her and entered Lawrence’s room.
Leona bit her lip. She could still feel where his fingers had touched her chin as embarrassment and fury warred inside her.
This was the first time anyone had dared to tease her like that.
“So confident, huh? Maybe I should raise my bet,” Leona murmured to herself.
After betting on Ashton last time and enjoying the thrill of winning money, she was eager to build up her fortune.
Once inside Lawrence’s room, Ashton sent him a silent telepathic message, then had Kayla and Neil step out temporarily. After the two had left, waves of energy rippled through the air as a barrier formed around them.
Lawrence opened his eyes at that moment.
“Ash, come with me to the secret chamber,” he said, his tone clear and steady.
After being nourished by the Septem–Leaf Ganoderma and treated with Ashton’s Ninefold Arcane Technique, Lawrence was in better condition than ever before. His aura now radiated a steady, resilient strength.
He opened a hidden panel in the room that led to a secret chamber, and then led Ashton inside.
The chamber was completely sealed off from the outside world, where Lawrence used to cultivate.
“Come over and let me be your opponent. Fight me,” he said, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
“But you haven’t fully recovered yet. If you use your inner energy forcefully, you could easily reopen your wounds. I don’t have another Septem–Leaf Ganoderma to save you.”
Even though Ashton longed for a sparring partner who could truly test his martial skill, he refused to risk Lawrence’s life to satisfy that desire.
“Are you underestimating me?” Lawrence snapped, glancing at Ashton.
After a moment’s thought, he continued, “Just one strike. Go all out, and I’ll teach you the secret of the Sixfold Carnage Fist.”
Ashton hesitated briefly before nodding. Truth be told, he was curious just how powerful Lawrence really was.
“Don’t hold back. You can only break through by pushing yourself to the limit,” Lawrence reminded him.
Ashton nodded, then the Drakeborne lineage within him surged violently. He stopped suppressing his dragon aura, and behind him, an image of Lord Ashdrake materialized.
As his aura shifted instantly, his eyes became bloodthirsty and savage like a dragon’s. Even his fingers curled into a fist, and all his power concentrated there. The aura of a semi–divine realm surged like a tsunami.
Veins bulged along Ashton’s arm. He’d never truly fought at full strength before, or unleashed the absolute limit of his power.
This time, he wanted to see just how strong he really was and where he still had room to grow.
“This is terrifying…”
Feeling the explosive pressure radiating from what seemed like Lord Ashdrake himself, even Lawrence’s eyes flickered. His brow furrowed deeply.
“This aura is no weaker than the elite bloodlines of the Drake family. In fact, it might be even stronger, and… Why does it feel
