Chapter 710
“What crime have I committed?” Flint asked. He stood with his hands behind his back, looking down at Ashton with pure contempt.
However, for the first time in decades, he was cornered.
As far as he was concerned, Ashton was destined to fail. His position as the ruler of the criminal underworld in Javonbury was untouchable.
“What have you committed? Your crimes are endless,” Ashton said, raising a finger and pointing straight at Flint.
He enunciated each word clearly as he continued, “First, you let your men run wild, killing at will and terrorizing entire districts until the city turned against you.
“Your second crime is lining your own pockets while stoking bloodshed across the underworld, letting everyone else fight while you reaped the rewards.
“Your third crime is colluding with the Obsidian Council, feeding them power and profit. It was an offense that angers both man and god.”
Ashton paused, his gaze shifting toward the three men from Jalun. When he spoke again, the killing intent in his voice sharpened.
“Your fourth crime is betraying your own people. As a son of this land, you allied with the Jalunese and sold out national interests. That is treason. And your fifth crime…”
Ashton’s voice rang out with a raw, commanding power as he laid out Flint’s crimes one by one. Each charge landed hard, tearing through the crowd and shattering the stillness.
“Is Ashton telling the truth? He’s got too many facts for this to be a lie. The other charges are one thing, but conspiring with the Obsidian Council and his alleged treason with the Jalunese? Those are death sentences. If he can prove that, no one can save him.

“As expected, Ashton came prepared. He wants to bring the Sage down with these crimes. If the Sage is hung out to dry and branded a criminal, Ashton wins without even fighting.”
“Damn it! This is a dirty play. Am I going to lose everything again? I put every cent I have on the Sage.”
“Relax. Ashton is being naive. He thinks a few accusations can topple a man like that? That’s just wishful thinking. There’s a reason the Sage has stood tall in Javonbury for so long. He didn’t keep all that profit for himself. I’m betting he bought off the right people a long time ago.”
The murmurs spread, low and fast.
Felix and Ronan, along with Logan, frowned. Killing intent flickered behind their eyes as they weighed their next move in silence.
Roxy’s expression darkened. She clearly had no idea what Flint had been doing behind the scenes.
Nearby, the members of the Legion clenched their fists, their eyes burning with lethal intent. Their organization existed to strike at crime and protect the nation. Flint’s record alone was enough to earn him death many times over.
Faye’s eyes flickered as she murmured, “Ashton actually has some charm when he’s playing the hero.”
“How can such an evil man with a list of crimes this long have the right to be the ruler of the criminal underworld in Javonbury? The sage is a disgrace to this city and to our country. He is a disgrace to us all.”
Ashton’s voice remained powerful and firm. Finally, he turned his gaze toward the representatives of the Dominion Vanguard and the Empyrean Sentinel.
