Chapter 734
Even by Julia’s standards, she had to admit that Ashton’s performance tonight was exceptional. Among everyone of his generation she had encountered, none had left a deeper impression.
But when she noticed Wanda’s obvious infatuation, she let out a sigh.
“You’re so naive, Wanda. The more talented Ashton is, the faster he’ll die. The Legion doesn’t have anyone left who can protect
him anymore.”
“Melody, did you see that?” Sylvia said. “That’s what a real hero looks like.”
Her heart was pounding. She had never doubted Ashton, not even once. Still, unease crept in as he continued to advance at a pace she feared she could no longer follow.
Beside her, Melody stared with her mouth slightly agape. Heat crept up her cheek as her composure began to crumble and her pulse beat faster than she could steady. She was slipping, completely drawn in.
After all, Ashton’s mystery and charm carried an irresistible pull that no woman could resist.
“Ms. Moore, Mr. Gray is incredible,” Otto said, unable to hide his amazement.
Faye’s gaze wavered, and she murmured, “Was my mom’s judgment really that good? This guy… He’s actually kind of charming.

“See that, Roxy?” Robert blurted out. “I told you Ashton wouldn’t lose.”
Regret flickered across his face. He had even prepared an aphrodisiac earlier, but never found the right chance to get his sister and Ashton into bed together.
One night would have fixed everything. If they had slept together, none of this mess would exist. They might have already reconciled.
Even if Ashton still held a grudge, he could always take it out on her through intimacy.
Robert muttered to himself, “No. After tonight, no matter what it takes, I’m getting them into the same bed. A brother–in–law like this is someone I need to hold onto for dear life.”
Ever since the incident at Blossom Hall, his admiration for Ashton had turned into near–blind worship. In his eyes, Ashton was someone capable of the impossible.
Roxy’s expression remained cold. Even so, no matter how hard she tried to suppress it, her heart was pounding as well. That familiar sense of awe and admiration surged back, stirring emotions she had long believed buried.
The Ashton she remembered had been just like this as well, seemingly capable of anything, as though there was nothing in the world he couldn’t accomplish.
“If I hadn’t divorced him, would I have been able to stand beside him as he rose to the top?” she thought.
Her heart jolted. Once the thought surfaced, she couldn’t force it back down, and regret surged inside her like a dam giving way.
“I can’t regret it. I won’t.”
She clenched her fists until her nails dug into her palms, using the pain to force herself to stay rational.
“Ashton might not even win,” she muttered.
Heat rippled through the air, raising the temperature.
Ashton took a single step forward, and a violent surge of power erupted from his body like a tidal wave. The force roared outward in a spiraling shockwave that slammed into Ronan, forcing him to step back.

Ronan stumbled several steps as the force behind his punch collapsed into nothing. Cold sweat streamed down his face and dripped onto the ground, his eyes filling with shock that quickly gave way to a gnawing dread.
At the beginning, he had never taken Ashton seriously. In his eyes, Ashton was merely an unfinished prodigy, someone destined to be crushed and added to his record.
After sensing the aura rolling off Ashton that rivaled his own, Ronan felt as though he had stepped into a living hell. He was no longer facing a reckless upstart but someone who inspired instinctive fear.
He couldn’t bring himself to meet Ashton’s savage, bloodthirsty gaze. That realization unsettled him more than anything else.
