Ashton’s form was like a black dragon bursting through the clouds as he swung a heavy punch at Chadwick.
Chadwick’s expression instantly shifted. He had assumed Ashton’s injuries would leave him weakened and forced into a defensive state. He never expected an all–out assault from Ashton, let alone one that hit with the force of a landslide.
He immediately flashed a murderous expression, taking a step back as a storm of energy exploded around him.
He was cloaked in an energy that seemed to originate from an abyssal demon. In that instant, a tangible demonic apparition flickered into existence within his reach, forging a horrific barrier around him.
A thunderous, metallic ring shook the stage. Ashton struck with his fist, but it only left an indentation on Chadwick’s defensive barrier. That massive force was quickly absorbed by the barrier, leaving Chadwick completely unscathed. Though the strike carried immense force, it didn’t even leave a scratch.
His pupils constricted, black flames flickering in his eyes as he stared at Chadwick, a deep sense of dread washing over him. Chadwick let out a raspy laugh, his face turning a shade paler as black–cursed sigils appeared across his skin, looking as though he had summoned something dark.
“You’re quite capable for a Casorian, but against my Aegis Ward, your attacks mean nothing, Ashton!”
He sounded hollow and cold as he remained huddled inside his barrier, his voice carrying the sinister cadence of a whispering
devil.
Ashton offered no retort, instead hurtling forward once more as he unleashed a torrent of strikes, determined to dismantle Chadwick’s Aegis Ward.
However, he was met with a terrifying reality–his strikes were quickly drained of power the moment they entered the one–foot radius around Chadwick. In contrast, Chadwick’s Aegis Ward’s energy successfully converged at the specific point of contact.
“You should just give it up, Ashton! You should know this is Jalun’s top–tier defense. You’re never getting through the Aegis Ward–not now, not ever!” Chadwick barked with his head held high.
“How intriguing!” Ashton had to admit that the Aegis Ward was a major problem, as he had never encountered such a defense before.
Despite that, he saw it as the perfect chance to sharpen his martial arts power. He believed that as long as the ward remained within the power levels of the semi–divine realm, he would eventually find a way to shatter it.
He hurriedly swallowed the blood in his mouth and used the Cosmic Breathing Technique to regulate his breathing. He then concentrated all his energy into his fists, coiling bolts of lightning and tongues of flame around his knuckles.
He hammered away. Each strike landed with an earth–shaking thud and a deafening roar that threatened to burst eardrums. Those around naturally thought that Ashton had completely panicked and was throwing nothing but useless strikes.
“How incredibly foolish!” Chadwick hadn’t expected Ashton to keep up a continuous assault. He thought that Ashton was doing nothing more than rushing toward his own grave.
“You’ll be at my mercy once you’re drained of inner and spiritual energy, Ashton! I’ll rip you to shreds then!” Chadwick sneered, completely certain of himself. He had never seen anyone in the semi–divine realm get through his Aegis Ward–not even Gareth, let alone some nobody from Casoria.
Ashton’s strikes visibly sped up as his blood–stained hands flew in a frenzy. He looked like a possessed man, his eyes burning with the raw hunger of a predator.
His breathing, however, began to grow erratic, and his existing injuries tore open further. He was spraying blood all over, and with his face deathly pale, he looked as though he was on the verge of collapsing.
