Ashton’s soul trembled, and his spiritual sense surged.

“Who are you?” he asked the voice.

“We are one and the same. I am the sole ruler within the nine celestial realms–Lord Ashdrake!” the voice cackled.

A pair of draconic eyes flickered in his Sea of Consciousness. The voice sounded ancient, and its tone was laced with hatred and resentment.

“Lord Ashdrake?” Ashton asked, immediately overwhelmed with fear. “Why are you in my Sea of Consciousness?”

“Have you forgotten? We are one entity!” Lord Ashdrake crooned eerily before bursting into laughter.

“How do I gain power?” Ashton forcibly suppressed his fear and asked.

“There’s no rush,” Lord Ashdrake drawled. “The time has yet to come. We can talk once you stabilize your footing in your current realm.”

He continued, “For now, immerse yourself in the pain. Without true suffering, you will never understand. In this world, power is all that lasts.”

The draconic eyes glowed with a sinister light. Then, everything fell silent.

Ashton tried to reach out with his spiritual sense once again. But unfortunately for him, he received no response. It was almost as though everything that had just happened had been nothing but an illusion.

By the time he snapped back to reality, Shane’s killing intent was already upon him.

Ashton steeled his resolve. Just as he was about to make a last–ditch attempt at saving his own life, two figures appeared almost simultaneously and shielded him from harm.

“Blazing inferno!”

Leona shot forward like a wyvern, tearing through the sky. Every ounce of her spiritual energy transformed into blazing wyvern flames before it struck directly at Shane.

“Phoenix Ascension!”

Similarly, Faye’s eyes were bloodshot as she rapidly formed a series of hand seals. Then, she plunged downward like an actual phoenix and charged at Shane with all her might.

Two bundles of semi–divine realm power erupted into a frenzy. Faye and Leona’s rampant energy raised the air temperature to a boiling point and encased Shane at the very center of it all.

However, in the next instant, both their attacks were completely erased by Shane’s domain. Because of this, they couldn’t harm him at all.

Leona and Faye’s expressions shifted. The overwhelming strength of an otherworldly realm expert had left them in complete shock. Against the might of someone like Shane, even their strongest techniques posed no threat.

“Stop overestimating yourselves!”

Scoffing, Shane gathered his powers in his palm and thrusted it forward.

Leona and Faye immediately spat out a mouthful of blood. Following two consecutive blasts, their bodies were sent flying before they crashed heavily onto the ground below.

He spared them a cold glance before turning his attention back to Ashton. He sneered, a cruel smile on his face. “No one can save you now!”

“Leona, Faye–lend me your strength!” Ashton cried abruptly.

All of a sudden, blood flooded Ashton’s vision. Gritting his teeth, his Drakeborne lineage roared to life, and every ounce of his strength was gathered in his right fist. The veins along his arm bulged violently before bursting open one after another.
