Chapter 946
Upon looking back at the fight at Terminus Cliff, Ashton thought that it was apparent that Lawrence had everything planned out. After all, he evidently had no intention of surviving the conflict.
Lawrence had removed every hurdle in Ashton’s path by sacrificing himself, secured Queenie as a powerful ally, and provided a three–year window for him to grow.
Ashton placed his fingers on Lawrence’s wrist, carefully examining his physical condition.
“I–Is Grandpa ever going to wake up, Ashton?” Kayla asked, her voice trembling
“Mr. Clarkson Senior definitely will!” Ashton declared, though his brow was furrowed.
Lawrence’s body was in such a state that it seemed stitched together, resembling a living dead–so much so that trying to bring him back and get him to open his eyes was like trying to resurrect someone from the dead.
“Do you really have a way, Ashton?” Kayla asked, her eyes brightening.
Ashton nodded. “If I can ascend to the otherworldly realm and secure a collection of rare herbs capable of mending the soul, I can bring Mr. Clarkson Senior back. I’ll be able to jumpstart Mr. Clarkson Senior’s life force. I’m going to need some time, though.”
Ashton’s Ninefold Arcane Technique possessed the power to resurrect the dead and mend broken bodies, but it demanded a high level of cultivation. His efforts would be in vain unless he reached the necessary level of mastery.
“I’ll trust you on this, Ashton!” Kayla exclaimed, clenching her fists in excitement.
It was then that Neil rushed into the room, looking visibly relieved to see Ashton awake. “Ms. Nolan has requested your presence, Ashton.”
“Queenie Nolan?” Ashton furrowed his brow.
He felt indifferent toward the woman Lawrence had appointed as the new head of the Legion. Her icy demeanor put him off, but even more so by the blatant disrespect and animosity she harbored toward Lawrence.
“I’ll head over right away,” Ashton said.
He still felt a deep sense of gratitude toward Queenie, regardless of his personal feelings. He knew that without her intervention at Terminus Cliff, both he and the Legion would have been destroyed, and they never would have established their current hold over Javonbury.
Ashton soon reached Queenie’s room. He found her sitting cross–legged as the space encircling her fluctuated, appearing as if she were a goddess with absolute command over the spatial realm itself.
“You regained consciousness sooner than I anticipated,” Queenie said, her eyes slowly drifting open.
She scrutinized Ashton and broke into a smile after catching his profound gaze. “What’s the matter? Do you still harbor resentment toward me because I failed to intervene on behalf of your beloved woman and precious daughter, Ashton?”
Ashton shook his head and said, “You had no prior connection to me, so the fact that you intervened to establish the Legion‘ authority was already more than enough, Ms. Nolan. I couldn’t possibly have expected anything more from VOL
“You’re truly worthy of being someone chosen by that old geezer! You’re indeed quite capable!”
Queenie flicked her wrist, sending an invitation card into Ashton’s hand. “It’s an invitation from the Heavenly Medi Their head, Callum McGrath, is set to wed your darling Wanda in one month, with Callum specifically request
