Chapter 957
Ashton’s resolve hardened. He wasn’t going to stand by and watch his family be taken from him again.
Moreover, this threat was worse than anything that had come before. The Drake family guarded their bloodline with absolute ruthlessness. If they found him, they would kill him, and nothing would stop them.
The moment he thought of his family and his daughter, his expression turned cold, and something dangerous settled in his eyes. He would never let anyone harm them.
“I must win over Miranda, the chosen maiden. There isn’t much time left. I have to break into the otherworldly realm as soon as possible, and I need to expand my power base.”
With his mind made up, Ashton picked up his pace and headed toward the Skybound Club on Linton Island.
“Ashton, over here.”
Miranda had already arrived. She smiled when she saw him and waved him over.
He walked toward her.
Miranda was dressed in a light blue floral dress that left her shoulders bare, her skin smooth and unblemished. Her dark hair fell loosely over her shoulders, and a pair of crystal heels accentuated her long, slender legs. Her figure was striking, balanced, and confident, drawing attention without trying.
Another woman stood beside her in black stockings and heels. Her eyes were sharp and bright as she studied Ashton with curiosity.
“Miranda, is this your blind date?” the woman asked. “Not bad. He’s actually pretty handsome and unlike the other guys. He’s got his own vibe.”
“Quinn, cut it out,” Miranda said, then turned to Ashton. “This is my best friend, Quinn Callahan.”
“Nice to meet you,” he said.
“Hi,” Quinn replied. “So, you’ve got your eye on Miranda? Just so you know, she’s not easy to win over. If you don’t have what it takes, you won’t stand a chance.”
“Have you ever heard about Linton Island’s criminal underworld? Do you know what’s under all that glamour? It’s violence and blood. But do you really know what her status is?”
The moment he finished, Miranda and Quinn exchanged a look. Neither of them expected Ashton to know the criminal underworld scene this well.
Quinn replied, “You already know all that, and you still want to go on this blind date with Miranda? I’ll be honest. She only agreed to this to keep her mom off her back. You’re not the first guy she’s dated, and you won’t be the last.
“If you’re still thinking about going after her, you’ll be dealing with people who won’t think twice about killing others. Also, you’ll have to face her dad. Just give up. Don’t get yourself killed over this.”
She waved him off.
“You can go now. Just say you met and it didn’t work out. You’re good–looking, so you won’t have trouble finding a girlfriend. If you want, I can introduce you to a few.”
Miranda glanced at Ashton apologetically.
She had already gone over this with Quinn. The two of them settled on what to say to make him back off, so she could go home and tell her mother and Irene that the blind date just hadn’t worked out.
