“I’m sorry…” I started crying, my voice breaking as I rubbed my palms together desperately, still crouched on the floor. Tears streamed down my face, hot and fast. “I never meant to act that way. Please do not kill me,” I begged, sobbing hard “I promise that nobody will hear of this that happened today. Just… just let me be. Please.”

Viktor sighed softly, the sound surprisingly gentle. He stepped fully into my apartment and shut the door behind him with quiet click that made my stomach drop. I stayed frozen where I was, pressing my face against the cool floor, heart pounding so loud I could barely think. My mind raced for any way to run out of here, to escape whatever this was turning into. How did this even happen? This geek just forced his way into my apartment. I couldn’t believe it. He looked so harmless with his glasses and hoodies, but he had real strength behind that slim frame.

Before I could even push myself up, Viktor moved past me toward my wardrobe. He yanked the doors open withour hesitation.

Inside, hidden among my clothes, stood a man dressed entirely in black – mask pulled low, gloves on, completely still like he’d been waiting there the whole time.

My eyes widened in pure shock. I nearly screamed, but I slapped both hands over my mouth, muffling the sound into a terrified whimper. What the hell was this? Was I seeing things? How did this man get inside my apartment?

I scrambled to my feet on shaky legs, backing away. “Who are you?” I demanded, my voice trembling badly. “How did you get in there? How… how long have you been here?”

The intruder started to open his mouth, but before he could say a single word, Viktor lunged. He slammed the man to the ground with surprising force, then started throwing heavy blows straight to his face. The sound of fists connecting with flesh was sickening – wet, brutal thuds. It didn’t take long before the man’s nose burst open, blood spraying across my carpet. A few teeth flew out with the next punch.

“No! Please, no!” I begged, my whole body shaking violently now. Sweat broke out across my skin even though the room telt cold. I whimpered helplessly, tears still falling. “Stop! You’re going to kill him!”

Viktor wasn’t listening. His face was set in quiet, focused anger as he kept hitting the man, each punch landing harder than the last.

My hands were trembling so badly I could barely hold my phone. I grabbed it anyway, plugged it in just enough to power on, and dialed building security with frantic fingers.

Smith picked up on the second ring. “Hello?”

“Come help me!” I pleaded, my voice shaky and desperate “Please, hurry-someone broke into six apartment Noom 42 There’s a fight. Please!”

After what felt like forever but was only a few minutes, heavy footsteps pounded down the hallway At Sanath burst in with another security guard right behind him. They quickly pulled Viktor off the bleeding intrucher separating the two the walt firm hands

I stood there pressed against the wall, arms wrapped around myself sull shaking and sweating trying to poses everything Viktor wiped blood from his knuckles and spoke calmly adjusting his glasses like nothing had happened. women’s rooms and apartments in the building. We’ve had reports before, but he always slips away. Good thing your neighbor was watching.”

They hauled the man out, his black clothes now stained with his own blood, leaving a trail of red drops on my floor.

I sank down onto the edge of my bed, legs too weak to hold me anymore, still trying to catch my breath. The apartment fe too small, too charged. Viktor stood there quietly now, glasses slightly crooked, looking at me with those same awkward downcast eyes from the hallway earlier.

The danger was gone… but the tension between us had just gotten a hundred times heavier.

“Are you alright?” Viktor asked, breaking the silence quietly.

I looked up at him from where I was still sitting on the edge of the bed, legs shaky. The sight of him hit me harder than expected. He had fresh bruises blooming across his cheek and jaw, a split on his bottom lip that was still bleeding a little, h hair very messy, and his huge, thick-lensed glasses were cracked in one corner. His hoodie was roughed up and torn in a couple of places from the fight, making the usually neat nerd look surprisingly disheveled.

“I should be the one asking you that,” I whispered, my voice still hoarse from crying.

Viktor just nodded quietly, not saying much.

I stood up slowly, reached for his hand, and gently pulled him over to sit on the bed beside me. His fingers felt warm and surprisingly strong after what I’d just witnessed. “The least I can do is treat these, I said, moving to my wardrobe to grab th small first aid kit I kept there.

I sat close to him and started cleaning the cuts with antiseptic wipes. He winced a little but stayed perfectly still. The silence between us felt thick, charged with everything that had just happened.

“So… was that why you wanted to come in the first time?” I asked softly as I dabbed at the wound on his lip.

“Yeah,” he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. He kept avoiding my gaze, which almost made me laugh despite everything.

“I’m sorry I barged in. I had no choice… and I couldn’t sleep because I was worried about you.”

I chuckled quietly, surprised by the honesty. “You were worried about me?”

He nodded, still not meeting my eyes.

I chuckled again, carefully cleaning the split on his bottom lip. “But I have a question. How did you know that man was my room?”

“When you went outside to take out the trash, I saw him slipping in He seemed to know your door code. He’s been watching you for a while, I guess.”

I sighed deeply, the weight of that sinking in “Anyway thank you so much. Who knows what could have happened if you ‘didn’t barge in.”

He gave a small, brief smile but quickly looked away again

“You’re really shy. I said, sinuling a little as I worked. “but you weren’t too shy when I saw you hitting that man. Are you really a nerd?” I joked lightly, trying to ease the tension

He stayed quiet for a moment, then asked softly, “Should look at you?”

I met his gaze and forced a small smile “Sure,” I whispered

As I continued cleaning and bandaging the bruises on his face. I noticed he couldn’t stop staring His eyes stayed fixed on

me – intense, unblinking, nothing like the awkward, darting glances from the hallway. Now I was starting to regret giving him permission. Maybe it was better when he avoided my eyes. The attention felt heavier than I expected.

“Done,” I whispered finally, lowering the wipe.

“You’re really pretty,” he said suddenly, the words quiet but clear.

My facial expression faltered. I stared deep into his eyes, and he stared right back, no longer hiding. The air between u shifted. It was thick, electric, and dangerous.

Before I could respond or pull away, Viktor leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.

My eyes widened in shock, the first aid kit nearly slipping from my hand.
