Chapter 114
Winnie hurried over and started massaging Josie’s shoulders, kissing her ass shamelessly. “Whatever Big Sis hates, I hate too,” she chirped. “Honestly, I hated June the second I saw her. She’s such an eyesore.”
Making the people I hate miserable? That’s just standard procedure.”
Josie laughed. Damn, girl. You’ve got a real silver tongue, don’t you?”
I’m not gonna lie to you,” Josie said. “June is my half–sister. Back in the day, my scumbag dad and June’s mom teamed up to screw over my mother. They were after her fortune. But my mom was sharp–way too smart to fall for their bullshit.”
“My mom made that deadbeat dad of mine sign a prenup. Everything she owned is in my hands.”
“June’s mother couldn’t get the money, so she went after my mom’s reputation instead. The three of them hounded her until she broke. They’re the reason she’s dead.”
“It’s a blood feud between me and that family.”
June’s life is mine to take. Personally.”
“That’s freaking disgusting! Winnie snapped, her face turning red with anger. They’re total trash!”
“Sis, you can’t let them get away with this. Not after what they did!”
“Thank god fate was on your side. You’ve got these insane powers now, and you’re a total badass.”
You’re definitely going to get your revenge!”
Josie shrugged. “My mom and I got played by that bitch and her daughter. I can admit that.”
‘But I’m done losing. It’s time to settle the score.”
‘It’s her or me. Only one of us is walking away from this.”
‘But before she dies, I’m going to drain her dry. I want her to have absolutely nothing when I finally end her.”
Winnie nodded hard. “I’m with you 100%, Sis!
‘So,” Josie said, shifting gears. “The base has facial recognition. How do I sneak in? You got any bright ideas?”
‘Is the tech really that good? What about makeup? Or a mask?” Winnie started racking her brain for a solution.
You’ve been to the base a few times,” Josie countered. “Do you really think that would fly?
Winnie paused, thinking it through. Probably not.
Security there was tight. Everyone had their IDs scanned, and if you were wearing heavy makeup, the guards made you scrub it off right there on the
spot.
Masks are out, too. If it’s silicone, they’ll feel the texture the second they touch your face.
That’s a no–go.
It looked like the base wasn’t playing around. Their security was airtight, probably specifically to keep badasses like Josie from sneaking in to stir up
trouble.
Then how the hell do I get in?” Josie asked, leaning her chin on her palm.
The opportunity came sooner than expected.
Three days later, Winnie came sprinting back, practically tripping over her own feet to reach Josie. The base was organizing a “Wild Hunt.
A Wild Hunt was basically a massive scavenger run–rounding up a bunch of Supers to go out and haul back supplies.
The base was getting crowded.
Every day, the mouth–to–feed count went up.
