Chapter 144
“Now that’s more like it.” Cyrus tilted his head to the side, then used his hand to snap it back into place with a sickening crack. “Keep it coming! Show me what you’ve really got!”
Josie didn’t waste words. Her answer was the blur of her Damascus blade, carving through the air so fast it created a wall of steel.
She went full aggro.
Strike after strike, every move was lethal.
Josie was the type of fighter who played up to her competition.
Against Tier–1 or Tier–2 trash, she was chill, almost casual.
But against Cyrus? She was a straight–up beast.
A predator looking for the kill.
There was no sign of the exhaustion she should’ve felt after burning through her stamina in the previous fight.
Her blade spun, the edge grazing Cyrus’s cheek.
Before he could blink, her fist followed
rough aiming right for his face.
This time, Cyrus didn’t dodge.
The punch landed–hard.
Thud!
Cyrus’s head snapped to the side. The impact sent his scarf flying, revealing a face that was unfairly, dangerously handsome.
“Tier–4. I knew it.” Josie stared at that stunning face, but she didn’t feel a thing. No attraction, no awe–just cold calculation. To her, he was just a threat level. “You’re pushing Tier–5.”
“Cyrus, how the hell are you leveling up this fast?”
“Is this just how the Psychic Superpower works?”
If that was the case, she was in for a rough time.
Cyrus let out a dry chuckle. He wiped a smear of blood from the corner of his mouth, reached out, and snatched a man standing nearby.
could even scream, Cyrus sank his teeth into his neck. Before the guy
In a matter of seconds, the once–muscular man shriveled up, turning into nothing but a bag of bones.
Every scratch on Cyrus vanished instantly. He was back to a hundred percent.
It clicked for Josie.
So that was his secret. That was how he was power–leveling.
How many people had he devoured to reach this rank?
“Psychic abilities are Elite Superpowers. They’re never this easy to level up,” Josie said, her eyes narrowing. “Which means you have a weakness, don’t you?”

“You think I’m just going to tell you?” Cyrus tossed the skeleton aside and pulled his scarf back over his face. “Josie, you definitely didn’t disappoint. But look at yourself. Do you really think you have enough left in the tank to keep fighting?”
“Your team is looking for you.”
“I’ll be waiting for you to grow.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, an engine roared behind her. Zane’s voice followed. “Josie! Are you okay? Sorry, we’re late!”
Cyrus glanced at Zane, then looked back at Josie. “When you hit Level 8, that’s when I’ll come for you.”
Then, he blurred. In a flash, he was gone.
Josie tried to go after him, but her legs buckled after two steps. She stumbled hard.
She was done. Her tank was completely empty.
Zane saw her falling. He lunged forward and caught her before she hit the dirt. “Josie! You okay? Talk to me!”
“I’m fine!” Josie tried to push herself up, but her legs were like jelly. They wouldn’t obey. She couldn’t even stand. “I’m just spent. Give me a minute, I’ll be okay.”
“Who was that guy?” Zane asked.

“A guy?” Josie let out a dry, twisted laugh. “You was human?”
“Not human? You mean…” Zane’s face went white as the realization hit him. “Undead? A Tier–4? There are already Tier–4 Undead out
there?”
“Help me up.” Josie grabbed Zane’s arm and forced herself upright.
Her pride wouldn’t let her stay down. Not here. Not in the middle of undead territory.
Forgive me,” Zane muttered under his breath.
Then, he reached out and caught Josie firmly by the waist.
Zane was a mountain of a man, pushing six–three. He kept a firm grip on Josie as they moved. At five–nine, she fit against him perfectly.
“We’ll talk back at base,” Josie said. She glanced over her shoulder at the empty street. “Have your people sweep the area for cores. I don’t work for free.”
