The Pyro Undead let out a raspy, deafening shriek. It launched itself off the concrete, flying through the air like a flaming missile straight for Josie’s

throat.

Midair, the creature unhinged its rotting jaw, spitting a second, thicker jet of whitehot fire directly at her face.

Definitely a Tier1. Its reflexes and combat instincts were miles ahead of those brainless Basictier trash heaps stumbling around outside.

Josie didn’t back down. She didn’t use her Metallic power.

Instead, she dove under the roaring pillar of flames, the blistering heat rolling over her back as she rolled perfectly to her feet.

She planted her boots, utilizing the momentum of her roll, and swung her fivefootlong Legendary Blade with every ounce of raw strength she possessed.

Crushing Peak!

Wave Breaker!

Fatal Zenith!

She chained the three devastating, heavyhitting techniques she had perfected over a decade in the underground fighting pits, unleashing them in a single, fluid heartbeat.

The heavy, dark steel of her blade didn’t just cutit crushed.

SHLUCK! CRUNCH!

Josie pivoted smoothly, turning her back to the monster as she casually rested the heavy, bloodsoaked flat of the blade against her shoulder.

A split second later, the Pyro Undead crashed onto the concrete behind her, pulverized into a grotesque mess of shredded muscle and shattered bone. Its torso had been cleaved in two, and its limbs were mangled beyond recognition.

Only its severed head remained somewhat intact, rolling a few feet away, its jaws still stubbornly snapping and spitting weak, dying sparks of fire.

Josie walked over to the severed head, her combat boots crunching on the glass.

She pressed her bare palm flat against the rotting, burning skull.

Siphon, she whispered into the empty plaza.

A familiar blue notification pinged to life in front of her eyes:

Siphonable ability detected: Tier1 Pyro. Cooldown until next Siphon: 29 days.]

Josie’s lips curled into a slow, wicked grin.

Perfect. This was exactly what she needed.

Her Siphoning ability wasn’t just a cheat codeit was a godtier glitch. It didn’t matter if the target was a human Super or a mutated Undead, if they possessed a power, she could rip it from their dying souls and make it her own.

Next time she ran into a horde, she wouldn’t have to rely solely on cold steel. She had fire now, too.

Josie shifted her weight and slammed the heavy heel of her combat boot down onto the zombie’s severed head, completely crushing it.

CRUNCH!

The skull shattered like a dry gourd under a sledgehammer. The tiny flames flickered, sputtered, and died instantly.

Josie wiped a smear of black gore from her cheek and turned back to the aisles, ready to finish her sweep

One hour later.

Josie walked out of the massive loading bay of the Hardware Plaza, the heavy steel doors clanging shut behind her.

The entire multilevel facility was a hollow shell. Not a single bolt, screw, or steel beam was left behind.

She couldn’t wipe the arrogant smirk off her face.

There was a glaring weakness to the Metallic superpower; what happened if a manipulator found themselves in an open field, completely devoid of

metal?

Normal Metal Manipulators had to haul around massive, heavy crates of scrap iron just to stay in a fight. They needed a constant, physical supply of ammunition ready to go at a moment’s notice. It was exhausting and severely limited their mobility.

But Josie? Josie didn’t have that problem.

She had tens of thousands of tons of highgrade steel, titanium, and iron stashed away in her private, infinite void.
