Josie played it perfectly, her face a mask of total shock. “What the hell are you ranting about? You’ve lost it.”

“It was you! It had to be you!” June’s voice cracked as she shrieked. “No one else could’ve pulled this off! Where were you last night? What were you doing? You stole everything, didn’t you? You took it all!”

“Whoa, watch your mouth!” Josie snapped back. She reached out and yanked over a trust fund kid she’d been drinking with the night before. “He’s my witness. I was at his party all night long. Drinking. Ask anyone there–they all saw me.”

The guy, suddenly put on the spot, looked a bit nervous but didn’t hesitate.

He nodded quickly. “Yeah, it’s true. Ms. Quinn was at my place all night. Everyone saw her. She was throwing back shots with me the whole time.”

June’s grip loosened, her hands falling to her sides. She stared blankly into space, her voice a hollow whisper. “How? How is that possible? If it wasn’t you… then who the hell was it?”

“How the hell should I know? The truth was, if Josie hadn’t aggressively stepped in and claimed her earlier, those rich brats would have torn the girl apart.

Josie might have forced her to down a lot of liquor, but compared to being a toy for those monsters? A hangover was nothing.
