Chapter 192
Josie used to tell the Blue Owls that the gap between Rank–3 and Rank–4 was like night and day.
A literal canyon between them.
They hadn’t really gotten it at first.
But they did now.
The raw, crushing power rolling off her was terrifying. It felt like she could wipe out anything in her path with a single look.
One look. That was all it took to make low–tier Supers want to hit the dirt and crawl.
This was it–the raw dominance of a true apex predator.
Josie stared at her clenched fist and laughed like a maniac.
“Hahaha! So this is what Tier–4 feels like!” The words had barely left her mouth when she flicked her wrist.
MANU
A massive airport support pillar–solid steel and concrete–was sliced clean through by the throwing knives she summoned with a casual wave.
CRACK.
The pillar shattered instantly.
Zane watched the column crumble, his eyes burning with pure, raw envy.
“Combat really is the best way to level up! No doubt about it!” Zane shouted. “You all saw that, right? You want to get strong? Then never stop fighting!”
“Fight!”
June stumbled inside, stopping dead in her tracks. The scene before her was impossible to swallow.
“What?” June shrieked, her voice cracking. “Josie hit Tier 4? Both her Metallic and Plant–type abilities leveled up at the same time?!”
“Hell yeah!” someone nearby yelled back. “You missed out, girl! You should’ve seen it. Josie wiped out a whole pack of undead solo. She was a total badass!”
“Josie is officially the strongest person in Fort City. No contest!”
“She really is our top fighter. A total Valkyrie.”
Hearing the other Supers rave about Josie like that made June feel like she was choking. Her throat felt tight, and she wanted to gag. June balled her fists, forcing her face to stay blank.
She couldn’t snap yet. Not when she still needed to ride Josie’s coattails to look important.
So, she had to suck it up. Just deal with it.
It didn’t matter.
If Josie could rank up, so could she.
She wasn’t any worse than Josie.
She’d hit Tier–4 too.
Hell, she’d surpass Josie and take that “Valkyrie” title for herself.
Meanwhile, Josie was talking quietly with Zane, breaking down the fight.
“One thing’s for sure–fighting above your rank is the fastest way to level up,” Josie said. “It’s like gaming. Grinding trash mobs gives you 1 XP. A mini–boss gives you a hundred. But taking down a world boss? That’s worth a million.”
“I learned a lot from that fight with Cyrus.”
“An enemy a rank higher than you really pushes you to the limit. It forces out every bit of your potential.”
“Plus, it teaches you efficiency. You learn how to burn the least amount of energy to deal the most damage.”
Zane nodded along as he listened. “Josie, let’s spar. I want to feel the actual gap between Rank–3 and Rank–4,”
“You’re on,” Josie agreed instantly. She looked at the rest of the group. “All of you Rank–3s should just come at me together. I’m not
joking–none of you stand a chance against me alone.”
Someone in the crowd didn’t like the sound of that. He took a step forward. “Then let me see what you’ve got!”
