Besides, they were all Supers. Their bodies were way tougher than any Norm’s.

They could handle a little lingering stink.

“Everything clear? Let’s move!” Josie said, hopping back into her ride.

The convoy started moving again.

Just as expected.

The path ahead hit a dead end.

Looks like that Mutant Pangolin was a lazy prick. It had dug out most of the tunnel but quit right before the finish line.

“Man, we should’ve kept that thing alive,” someone grumbled. “Could’ve made it finish the job for us.

Josie chuckled. “He’s right. Mutated beasts have some brains now, but they’re like toddlers. Way too unpredictable to control.”

“Alright, enough talk. We’re on our own from here.”

The rest of the crew worked fast, hauling the dirt and rocks away to clear the path.

“What? Why?” someone asked, looking confused. “Who’d be that much of an asshole? And how did they even know we’d be taking this route?

Who else but Cyrus?

He was the only one who knew they were heading to Newport City.

And only Cyrus knew Josie well enough to know she wouldn’t just sit around once she got word of him. She was definitely going to take the shortcut. That woman had claimed she would be the one to tell Cyrus about this path.

But that woman was a liar. You couldn’t trust a word she said.

She’d probably spilled everything to Cyrus the second she had the chance.

Besides, with Cyrus’s resources, he probably had ten other ways to find out about this route.
