Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 330

Chapter 330.

Josie returned to the scavenger squad with a grim expression. Seeing them stiff kneeling where she had left them, she paused. “What are you gu doing?”

“Boss!” The squad members were ecstatic to see her return unscathed. Their relief made them incoherent. “We… we followed your orders! We to stay obedient!”

“Exactly! We won’t say a single word about today! Not a syllable!”

“I swear it! If I talk, let lightning strike me down! I’ll die a horrible death!”

The others followed suit, swearing frantic oaths.

Josie shook her head with a weary smile. “Alright, get up.”

They helped each other up, their legs still a bit shaky.

“Keep everything that happened today a secret. I don’t want too many people knowing my bosiness. Understand?” Josie said.

“Understood, understood!” the captain replied instantly. “Please, Boss, don’t worry. Our mouths are sealed. Every person in my squad was handpic and is completely reliable.”

They weren’t fools. Their “Boss” was a legend. If they dared leak her secrets and offended her, she could hunt them down in minutes. They would t this secret to their graves.

“There’s nothing left to search for at this port,” Josie said. “Let’s head back.”

“Yes, ma’am!”

The return journey was much smoother than the trip out. Now that Josie had exposed her strength, she saw no point in hiding it. More importantly, needed to get back and consult with the Blue Owl Squad to adjust their strategy.

Before, she and Cyrus had been playing a game of shadows in Newport City. Now that the nuclear warheads were officially on the table, the out in the open. Cyrus had basically told her that he was watching them. All the tricks and smoke screens can stop now.

With Josie’s aura radiating, low-level Undead didn’t dare approach. They fled the moment they sensed her, terrified of being annihilated.

Thanks to this, the team reached the sanctuary in record time.

Josie followed the scavengers to the mission center to unload the supplies. They weighed the haul and calculated the Credits. The captain, being incredibly sensible, tried to give the lion’s share to Josie.

“I don’t need the Credits. I don’t have a card for this base,” Josie said. “I’ll take something else as payment instead.”

“I need you all to help me look for someone named Sean Voss.”

“Here is a photo of him.”

The squad members concentrated around, staring intently at the photo, burning Sean’s image into their memories.

“If you hear anything, come find me. You know where I’m staying,” Josie said.

“Understood! We’ll search every corner of the base!” they promised.

In truth, Josie wasn’t confident. The photo Dean Voss had given her was of Sean as a young man. Sean was now in his late forties or early fitties. He would look very different now. However, bone structure and facial contours usually remained recognizable

Her task finished, Josie turned to leave

As she reached the entrance, a man stumbled, nearly colliding with her.

“My apologies!” the man said awkwardly, looking embarrassed.
