Doomsday Revenge: Payback Time (Josie) novel Chapter 356

< Chapter 356

Chapter 356.

“I managed to escape in the chaos. Back then, I knew I had to go into hiding to disappear into the crowds under a fake name.”

Fortunately, because of my special status before the apocalypse, I had several sets of identity documents. I took on the name Professor Chase and wore a mask. I found one of my former students, and he helped me get a job stoking the boilers. I’ve just been barely surviving since then.”

The world went to hell, and no one ever mentioned that cache of nuclear warheads again.”

“Very few people even know they exist.”

I honestly don’t know how you found out about them.”

Then again, with the Blue Owl Squad here, I suppose there isn’t much you can’t uncover.”

“Later, when the Mutants appeared, the world became even more chaotic. I had no idea where humanity was headed.”

“I don’t have a superpower. I’m just an ordinary human. I couldn’t change the course of history, so I could only stay silent.” Sean let out a deep, weary sigh. “So, please forgive my hiding over the past few days. I truly couldn’t handle the weight of that secret leaking out!”

Josie nodded. “I understand. If that many nuclear weapons were ever released, the cost would be far too high.*

“Exactly,” Sean said. “Thank you for understanding.”

“So, the location of the warheads… can you tell me?” Josie asked. “These weapons must be placed in my care. I don’t trust anyone else with them.”

2

“I can.” Sean pulled the laptop toward him and plugged in a USB drive. He typed frantically for a while before pushing the screen toward Josie. This is where the warheads are hidden. It cannot be copied or photographed. If you try, the file will self-destruct. Memorize it now.”

“Got it!” Josie nodded immediately. “Hudson Knox!”

“Here!” Hudson stepped forward instantly, searing the locations, coordinates, and the trap-filled checkpoints into his memory. Josie and her team were stunned to see that the cache was hidden under the sea.

No wonder they couldn’t find it no matter how hard they searched.

It made sense, though.

How could a stockpile of that many nuclear weapons be left out in the open?

Before the apocalypse, the seabed was undoubtedly the safest area.

But now? Not necessarily.

With so many Mutants in the ocean, it was a massive threat.

But no matter how dangerous it was, they had to go!

They could never let these warheads fall into the hands of Cyrus Finch!

The weapons there should be well-preserved,” Sean continued. “Unless there’s a massive earthquake or a megatsunami, it’s very hard to damage them.” “Even powerful marine Mutants won’t be able to break into the facility easily.”

Josie nodded. “That’s good. Or it will be a hassle to find them.”

“Is there anything else you want to know? I can tell you everything right now,” Sean said. “All the data from the research center is here; I’ve already organized it. That’s all there is.”

This is enough,” Josie said. “If you trust me, I can keep those for you.”
