Chapter 358.
Chapter 358.
“That’s my business. What the hell does it have to do with you?” June snapped back irritably. “It’s better than being stuck between Tier-5 and Tier-6 like you!”
Lord Vane rolled his eyes. “Even if you’re Tier 6 now, you still can’t beat me at my Tier-5 Apex. By the time you reach Tier-7… ha! You probably won’t even be a match for me at Tier-6.”
“Power built purely on a pile of Cores is nothing but trash!”
The veins on June’s forehead bulged. “Shut the hell up!”
Lord Vane laughed in a high-pitched, eerie tone. “It’s none of my business, of course! But if the day comes when you can’t hack it anymore, you should consider coming to me. I’ll give you a hand and turn you into a full Undead. What do you say?”
“Get lost!” June screamed, firing a water arrow at him.
Lord Vane dodged it with ease, laughing as he swaggered away.
June took several deep breaths to settle her rage before knocking on Cyrus’s door.
“Enter.” Cyrus had heard the bickering outside, but he didn’t care. He couldn’t be bothered with the petty power struggles between Lord Vane and June.
He only wanted to know where those damn nuclear warheads were.
“Don’t worry,” June said, placing the tray on the table. “If we can’t find them, Josie can’t find them either.”
Cyrus raised his hand slightly. The glass on the table instantly flew into his palm. He drained it in one gulp.
“What has Josie been doing these past few days?” Cyrus asked irritably.
“Her? She’s been in the base running that supermarket,” June said with contempt. “I really don’t get her. She’s no saint, so why is she playing the hero? I heard she’s selling things for dirt cheap. She’s literally doing charity.”
“Is she trying to win over the people of Newport City because she couldn’t win over Fort City?”
“Even if she does, what’s the point? She can’t take them back to Fort City. It’s a thousand miles away. Aside from the casualties, the cost of feeding them on the road would be astronomical.”
“She’s just being ridiculous.”
“Running a supermarket?” Cyrus’s brow furrowed. “No. That’s not right.”
“What’s wrong with it?” June said dismissively. “She does this kind of thing all the time-just prone to random fits. She was like that before, too.”
“Heh. You really don’t understand your sister at all,” Cyrus said with a cold laugh. “She hever wastes her time on useless things. Everything she does has a purpose. Charity? Impossible.”
“She’s most likely looking for someone-someone who knows the location of the nukes.”
“Since she couldn’t find them quietly, she decided to do it out in the open.”
“Keep your eyes glued to her! The moment she leaves the base, report to me immediately!” “Yes, sir!”
***
Just as Cyrus suspected, Josie left the base the very next day.
