Chapter 423.
Sage nodded. “It is indeed early for such things. Human, may I know your name? Mine is Sage.” “Josie Quinn,” she replied. “I’ll remember your name, Sage. You’re the first goat I’ve met with a game!”
The old goat smiled. “Good.”
Sage slowly backed away two steps.
Ivy’s tendrils retracted to the ground, and the mental connection snapped.
Josie stood up and nodded to The old goat.
Sage turned and trotted away, leading the remaining survivors of the Mutant Goat Herd into the distance.
A field of goat corpses was left behind.
Josie returned to the group. Someone couldn’t help but ask, “They’re just… leaving?”
“Yeah.” Josie shared the details of her conversation with Sage. “He used the secret of all Mutant Fauna as an exchange.”
The group fell into deep thought as they listened to Josie’s report.

“That’s the benefit of standing on the shoulders of giants!” several professors sighed. “Our responsibility as the old guard is massive! We must pass our knowledge down to the next generation. We absolutely cannot lose to the mutants!”
“Exactly!” the other professors agreed.
Sean Voss added, “If mutant animals can’t eat humans, they’ll devolve. It’s natural selection. Survival of the fittest. Failing to consume humans marks them as having inferior genes.”
The others nodded in agreement. “Humanity has to unite. Kill every mutant we see! We can’t stay on the defensive forever.”
“No kidding. Between the Undead and the Mutants, humans are being hunted from every side. We used to be the masters of this planet. It’s a hard adjustment being at the bottom of the food chain!”
