Chapter 437.
June Quinn knew exactly what kind of girls the elders liked
If there was one thing she excelled at, it was playing the role of the submissive, “good” girl. She had years of experience
June immediately put on a demure expression. I’ve admired Tate for a long time. It’s just that he always said he wasn’t ready in querie down, so we haven’t made our relationship official yet.”
As expected, Albert Jansen was extremely pleased with her answer.
“Tate, you’re not a child anymore. It’s time to settle down! I think June is an excellent choice.” Albert gave his son a pointed look
Tate Jansen caught on immediately. “Right, right. I was thinking the same thing. June, why don’t we go public with our relationship?”
Internally, June was laughing with cold contempt, but her face remained the picture of obedience. “I’ll follow the elders lead“”
“Good, good. I’ll have a proper talk with your parents about your future later.” Albert’s satisfaction grew. “Since June has said her piece let’s pick up the pace!”
“Ditch the unimportant people!”
“There’s no need to waste our rations on them.”
Albert issued his orders with icy indifference. “We’re going to travel light!”
“You got it!” Tate agreed instantly.
They didn’t explicitly name who the “unimportant people” were, but everyone understood the subtext. For the stone–hearted Jansen men, who were capable of abandoning a city of millions, anyone who wasn’t useful was expendable.
“Tate, go help June pack her things,” Albert said. “As her boyfriend, you should show some discernment!”
“On it!” Tate followed June out, looking delighted.
June took Tate’s arm, acting ecstatic and flattered. “Tate, darling, you must take good care of my family from now on!”
“We’re all family now, of course I will!” Tate leaned in and sniffed June’s hair. “Wouldn’t it have been better if you’d just agreed sooner? You didn’t have to take such a long detour. It’s not like we haven’t slept together before.”
June feigned a blush. “I was just being shy. Besides, I was still young back then and wanted to wait. Now that I’m nearly of legal marriage age, I’m ready!”
“Even though it’s the apocalypse, I still wanted us to be together properly, according to the old ways.”
Tate was completely charmed by her words. “Fine, whatever you say!”
“Alright, you can leave me here. I need to go tell my family,” June said, dropping the act of shyness and turning serious. “We really need to accelerate! We’ve come this far; we can’t let everything fall apart now.”
“Don’t worry,” Tate said. “I’ll handle the arrangements!”
June nodded and gave him a flirtatious look. “Then I’ll be heading back!”
“Come to my tent tonight.” Tate pinched June’s waist.
June grit her teeth inwardly but gave a bashful nod. “Okay.”
