Chapter 441.
Cynus Finch fixed the first section of the iron cable on his side. Then, using his Psychic Superpower, he pulled the cable range o faut, holding it suspended in the air. He stepped onto the narrow line, walking across it with slow, measured steps.
The iron cable remained perfectly rigid in mid–air, extending forward inch by inch. It looked as if an invisible hand from below won propping up both Cyrus and the metal rope.
He moved across the abyss with a casual, elegant grace, looking more like he was taking a stroll in a park than crossing a deadly drop
“Holy shit,” Hudson Knox muttered under his breath. “No wonder Josie is so guarded against this guy. This Undead is a total freak! He couldn’t have been some nobody before the apocalypse, right?”
Josie Quinn nodded. “Yeah. He’s going to be our greatest enemy. As for what he did before the world ended, who knows? Either way. I’ve never seen another Undead whose talent surpasses his.”
“We can’t worry about that now. Let’s get across the bridge first.”
Josie’s group waited in silence. Meanwhile, Josie and the other Metallic Supers had already begun forging the second iron cable.
By the time Cyrus reached the other side and fully secured the first cable, Josie’s team had finished the second one.
Josie waved at Cyrus, signaling him to come back and ferry the second cable across.
Cyrus was actually provoked into a laugh by the way Josie bossed him around so naturally.
“You really know how to put people to work, don’t you?” Cyrus said irritably. “Just how thick is your skin?”
“Are you even human? You’re an Undead!” Josie replied, not feeling a shred of guilt. “Why should I have a guilty conscience about using you? Besides, you were going across anyway. One trip, two trips–what’s the difference? Just go and stop complaining.”
Cyrus pointed a finger at her, speechless. “Fine. You’re something else. I have things to ask you later.”
With that, Cyrus resigned himself to his fate, grabbed the second cable, and strode across the gap with lightning speed.
Since the first cable was already in place to serve as a guide, the second one went up much faster. However, his retreating figure definitely radiated an aura of suppressed fury.
At that moment, Julian Finch returned.
Julian grinned. “Alright, you can relax now. Those sitting ducks won’t be able to make it here for at least a day!”
*Sitting ducks.* The nickname was incredibly fitting.
Josie laughed.
“Josie.” Julian leaned in closer to Josie and asked, “Did you have a boyfriend before the apocalypse?”
The moment the words left his mouth, several people nearby pricked up their ears to eavesdrop. Everyone was curious about this. When
it came to gossip, humans and Undead were exactly the same.
“No,” Josie answered. “Why do you ask?”
“Sister is so beautiful and so badass. No one pursued you? I don’t believe it,” Julian said with a smirk.
