Josie asked, “Tell me about your current Base Commander.”

themselves.”

“Exactly. Don’t even dream about the way the government looked after the poor before the apocalypse. Everyone survives on their own merit now! If you can hack it, you live. If not, you drop dead.”

“It’s not just our base. The other two bases are the same. Everywhere is the same.”

“That’s why I say our Commander lacks vision,” a third man argued. “Even if it’s the apocalypse and the state has collapsed, does that mean we can never rebuild? Can’t he look a bit further ahead?
