“The Royal Guard?” Josie pressed. “Do they ever come down here?”

“Of course!” the man replied. “The Summit is for the elites, but they love coming down to show off to us Norms. Otherwise, what’s the point of being rich and powerful if no one sees it?”

The crowd burst into laughter. “Exactly! To find fortune and not show it off is like wearing silk in the dark!”

“So when do they usually come down?” Josie asked.

“Two or three days a week for ‘patrols,” the informant explained. “As the Royal Guard, they don’t actually do the dirty work, but they have to make an appearance to check things. Besides, the Commercial District is down here. They use the patrols as an excuse to come down, spend their Credits, and enjoy the high life!”

“You bet! Their monthly Credits are more than they can spend. Why wouldn’t they come down here to splurge?” someone else chimed in. “I bet that group will be here within the next two days.”

“No doubt about it. Everyone knows the Sierra City Official Base has the best entertainment around!” The onlookers laughed

boisterously. “I don’t believe for a second those newcomers can resist.”

Josie asked one more question. “I’m new to the base, so I don’t really know the layout. What kind of ‘entertainment’ are we talking

about?”

“Oh, you’ve come to the right place for that!” several people started talking at once. “As long as you have Credits, anything is yours-beautiful women, handsome men, every vice imaginable. You name it, we’ve got it.”

“How could that group resist? The view at the Summit is nice, but it’s lonely up there. People belong in a crowd!”

“Exactly! That’s the way it is!”

The corners of Josie’s mouth curled into a smirk.

Perfect.

If that was the case, June and her boyfriend would definitely come down to enjoy themselves.

June was a person driven by vanity, she loved to flaunt her wealth and status, and she craved the finer things in life.

In Fort City, she never really reached the pinnacle of power, so she had been forced to play it safe.

But now? Now she was the stepdaughter of the Base Commander. There was no way she could restrain herself.

Now that the target had appeared, June’s time was officially up.

known you had this kind of influence when you were younger, why did we ever bother staying in Fort City with those people? We
