< Chapter 512
Chapter 512.
“Beyond that, the mutants are still watching from the shadows.”
“We don’t have to worry about the mutant plants for now-with Lirio around, there are almost no rivals in the plant kingdom. But that’s not a hundred percent guarantee. If we’re unlucky and run into a high-rank Primal, even Lirio won’t be a match.”
“So, I’ll say it again: starting with me, everyone at Quinshaw Base needs to increase their strength as fast as they can!”
The others nodded silently.
Zane sighed. “You’re right. Quinshaw Base is different from the others. While other people might have time to catch their breath, we don’t have that luxury.”
“The elderly and the children in our team depend on our protection.”
“If we aren’t strong enough, how can we protect anyone?”
Josie nodded. “Exactly. So, don’t stop me. Even if there are side effects, I’ll take the risk! We have to survive the present before we can talk about the future. Besides, there might not even be any side effects!”
In her previous life, she had only heard rumors about the Devouring power; she hadn’t seen firsthand if Jaxon suffered any
consequences.
But with Cyrus’s threat hanging over her head, Josie had no choice but to take the gamble.
This life was a bonus anyway.
Win or lose, she was already ahead!
She was going all in.
“Fine. No matter what happens, we’re your most loyal supporters, Boss Josie!” Hudson Knox spoke up.”Even if you turn into a zombie, the whole squad will just join the Undead and pick fights with humans alongside you!”
Josie was instantly amused.”It won’t come to that, really! June Quinn absorbed so many Undead Cores, and she never turned into a zombie. Transforming requires a massive accumulation of corruption first.”
“What’s our next move?” Zane asked.
“Take these cores and refine them!” Josie pointed to the massive table full of Undead Cores. “Even though the Devouring power can ignore the type of energy, I’m sticking to Metallic, Plant-type, and Aquatic cores to be safe. Spatial cores are too rare to use for this, so I’ll keep leveling that one up the traditional way.”
“Got it!” Zane immediately directed the others to transport the cores to the lab.
The so-called “refining” process was actually extraction.
It was the same process Albert and Tate Jansen had used back at the Fort City Base.
These days, Albert and his son were being very well-behaved and staying out of the way.
June Quinn had arranged decent jobs for them. The father and son were as quiet as mice, having abandoned any thoughts of power

A large quantity of refined cores was delivered to Josie. She grabbed a handful and began absorbing the energy.
Countless surges of Undead energy were converted into pure power, steadily flowing into Josie’s body.
She could clearly feel the energy within her intensifying.
The progress bar for her Metallic superpower appeared in her mind, slowly ticking upward.
Moving from Tier-6 to Tier-7 really was a chasm.
Consequently, the progress bar was incredibly long.
But that was fine. Josie had plenty of patience.
While Josie was busy leveling up like a madwoman, the people at the Official Base finally discovered their location and found Quinshaw Base.
Initially, Malcolm Monroe hadn’t thought much of such a small team, mainly because June hadn’t been clear with him about exactly how dangerous Josie was.
As a result, Malcolm only sent a small squad to find Josie to purchase some Power Rain.
The moment Josie heard they wanted Power Rain, she knew June was behind it.
After having her powers siphoned three times, was she still refusing to give up? Did she really want to try for a fourth awakening?
