Chapter 586.
In her unconscious state, she felt as though she was hearing voices from a great distance, arguing over something. It was a surreal sensation, much like the mystical experience she had when she used the Power Rain to awaken her abilities.
“Hey? This human is finished,” a muffled voice said.”We gave her so many chances, and she still lost.”
“She lost, she lost. Take back the energy we gave her. That other girl is much more capable. Transfer the luck to her instead.”
“Alright. So, we’re just abandoning this one?”
“Yes. Abandon her. She’s useless trash.”
“Understood.”
As the last word faded, June felt her soul grow heavy. Her once-shimmering world was suddenly stripped of its color. Everything turned dim, gray, and utterly unremarkable.
The good luck that had followed her for over twenty years was gone forever. The luck that had followed her for over twenty years was gone forever.
Eventually, June drifted back to consciousness.
She realized her wounds had been treated with some sort of medicine, but they still burned with a searing pain. If she were still a Super, this level of pain would be nothing. But as a Norm, without timely medical care, these injuries could be fatal.
“Water… water…” June croaked.
The door creaked open a second later.
Tate walked in holding a cup of water, which he shoved roughly toward June’s lips.
June instinctively reached out to take it, only to realize her hands were bound. Chains locked her wrists to the wall.
She realized she was hanging there, suspended in the posture of a prisoner.
June’s heart sank into an abyss.
She looked up at Tate with a hollow gaze.”If you do this to me… aren’t you afraid my mom will find me? She’ll never stop looking for me.” “Her?” Tate gave a mocking laugh.”Oh, she searched the whole city, but she couldn’t find a trace! Malcolm Monroe isn’t an idiot; he wasn’t going to let her throw a tantrum forever. She looked three times, failed, and then she stopped.”
“Oh, right. I forgot to tell you the good news.”
“Your mother is pregnant! It’s Malcolm’s child!”
“Malcolm is keeping a very close eye on her now. He won’t let her leave his side. He’s terrified something might happen to this baby.” “You might be gone, but she’s already got a replacement! A new child!”
“How can a step-daughter compare to his own biological child?”
“Do you really think Malcolm would ever let you come back?”
Tate’s words were like poison, dragging June deeper into a bottomless hell.
June closed her eyes.
She knew she truly had no cards left to play. Knowing Sylvia Sutton, her mother would indeed sacrifice her for the sake of the baby in her womb. Her entire family shared the same trait: they were all profoundly selfish. If a better option appeared, they would discard any dead weight without a second thought.
June took a deep breath. When she opened her eyes again, her expression was sweet and submissive-the picture of manipulative innocence.”Dear Tate, I know you blame and hate me. I know I was wrong. I’m so sorry… I’ve realized my mistakes.”
“I’m a useless person now. You don’t need to keep me chained up like this. Even if you left the door open, I couldn’t run away.” “Tate, give me a chance to make it up to you, okay?”
