Chapter 90
Josie couldn’t remember the exact date the storm hit.
It had been ten years since her last life, after all.
But looking at the timeline, it was about time.
If she was right, Tier–1 Undead were already crawling everywhere outside.
This rain would push almost every Basic Undead to Tier–1.
The real test for humanity was finally here.
Meanwhile.
Zane led the dozen teammates who wanted to leave to the mine platform where Josie used to stay.
He pointed at the supplies on the ground. “We’ve been through a lot together. If you’re leaving, I’m not letting you go empty–handed. I got this stuff ready for you. Split it among yourselves.”
“Captain Shaw, I…” The men were choked up, eyes welling with tears.
This gear hadn’t been cheap even before the world went to hell.
Especially now, when supplies were basically non–existent.
Zane giving up this much proved he was the real deal.
Zane clapped each of them on the shoulder. “Stay alive out there. If things get too messy, come back to me. If I’ve got a scrap of food, you’ve got a seat at the table.”
“Yes, sir!”
“Alright, knock off the waterworks. You’re grown men. I’m not doing the long goodbye.” Zane turned and walked away without looking back.
Zane led the remaining forty–plus members of the Blue Owl Squad back to Josie’s spot. He was ready to set up camp and be her new neighbor.
But they hadn’t even dropped their gear before they saw Josie and her partner frantically packing.
What the hell was going on?
“What’s the rush?” Zane asked, confused. “We’ve got the jammers running. Tate can’t track us here. Why are you bugging out?”
“We’re not running from people this time. We’re running from the plants and the animals,” Josie answered. “Haven’t you noticed? The greenery around here is getting a little too… aggressive.”
“Yeah?” Zane still didn’t get it. He looked around, totally lost. “It’s a forest. Isn’t that how trees work?”
“It’s a long story. I’ll explain later.” Josie looked at the forty–something guys and didn’t hesitate to start barking orders. “Since you’re here, put those muscles to work. Get over here and help me dig up all this cassava!”
Zane was confused, but he didn’t push it. He just did what he was told.
He rolled up his sleeves and got straight to work.
When the rest of the crew saw their captain getting his hands dirty, they fell right in line.
With nearly fifty guys on the job, it took them all day, but they managed to strip the entire field bare.
Then, right in front of their eyes, Josie swept the whole harvest into her space.
Josie finally turned to Zane and explained. “We can’t stay here. We need high ground–the higher, the better. It has to be sheltered

and completely flood–proof. Ideally, we need to be far away from people, and even further away from any plants or animals.” One of Zane’s guys spoke up immediately. “I know a spot. It’s high up and totally secluded.”
“Where?” Josie asked. “How far is it?”
“Not far. Maybe ten or fifteen miles from here.”
“Move out. Now.” Josie didn’t hesitate. She swept every last bit of their gear into her storage space and summoned a vehicle out of thin air. “Lead the way!”
Zane didn’t need to hear another word. “You heard her. Let’s move!
