Dumped Omega? Now Their Alpha King Begs at My Feet novel Chapter 53

Valerie's POV

I was finally being discharged. Dr. Albright signed the last of the paperwork with a hand that still trembled slightly whenever I looked at him.

"Your physical recovery is complete, Lady Valerie," he said, not quite meeting my eyes. "But your magical energy is still dangerously low. I must advise you to avoid any strenuous activity."

"I'll keep that in mind," I said, my tone dry.

My parents had sent a set of simple, comfortable clothes. It felt good to be out of the hospital gown and in a soft sweater and jeans. I was ready to go.

My driver, Elias, was waiting for me just outside the suite. He gave me a respectful nod as I stepped into the hallway.

Just as we were about to leave, a man appeared at the end of the corridor. He was dressed in the black, unmarked combat gear of Kai's elite guard, and he moved with a silent, deadly efficiency.

He held a flat, silver, climate-controlled case in his hands. He stopped in front of me and bowed his head.

"Lady Valerie. A delivery for you, from Alpha Kai."

Elias tensed slightly, moving to stand between me and the guard. It was a subtle, protective gesture.

I gave Elias a small nod to let him know it was okay. I took the case. It was cool to the touch and surprisingly light.

"Thank you," I said to the guard. He just bowed again and retreated down the hall, disappearing as silently as he had arrived.

I looked down at the case in my hands. What the hell was this?

Back at the Silver Crown compound, I went straight to my new rooms. I placed the silver case on my bed.

He hadn't sent me a symbol of his wealth. He hadn't sent me a claim of ownership. He had sent me a solution. A tool.

This wasn't a gift for a future Luna. It was a gift for a healer. For me. The real me.

A strange, unfamiliar heat spread through my chest. I reached out, my fingers trembling slightly, and gently touched one of the glowing petals. It felt warm against my skin.

How? How in the world had he found this? The resources, the effort, the sheer force of will it must have taken…

My new comm unit, the one my father had given me, suddenly chimed on the nightstand. It was a text from an unlisted, encrypted number.

I picked it up. There were only four words.

"Did you get it?"
