Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138

Nerissa Jamison’s voice wasn’t loud or soft, but it carried enough weight to hush the entire crowd.

Sue just brushed off Nerissa’s words.

She thought, ‘Nerissa’s finished. There’s no way out for her now.’

‘Does she seriously think she can pull off a miracle at this point?’

But in the very next second, everything flipped.

When Sue looked at the board, her face turned deathly pale, as if all the blood in her body had rushed backward.

Just moments ago, the white pieces were barely surviving, but with one brilliant move, Nerissa linked them all together, leaving Sue with nowhere to run!

Black-defeated.

Defeat!

She lost.

Even she couldn’t believe she’d lost.

Sue’s breathing grew heavy, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at the board, unable to believe what she was seeing.

Except for Nerissa, no one had ever managed to defeat her.

Not only did she lose, she lost in the most humiliating way possible.

Nerissa spoke up again, her voice carrying through the room. “Ms. Sue, appreciate you letting me take the win.”

Her voice was light and airy.

Her tone was melodious.

After speaking, Nerissa reached for the Ocean Star Necklace Sue had set aside. “Thanks for the treasure, Ms.

Fisher.”

Rules are rules when it comes to competitions.

It’s not like Nerissa was here to play the hero.

Just because the Ocean Star was a Fisher family heirloom didn’t mean Nerissa was going to give it back.

After all, Sue had her eyes on the East Sea Mermaid Pearl from the very beginning, all just to embarrass the

Berenson and Sullivan families.

Since that’s what Sue was after, Nerissa was more than happy to let her have a taste of her own medicine.

When Sue saw Nerissa pick up the Ocean Star Necklace, she was dumbstruck, completely at a loss.

She never thought she’d actually lose the Fisher family’s treasured heirloom.

And even more, she never expected to lose to Nerissa of all people!

To Sue, this was utter humiliation.

Unbearable humiliation.

It wasn’t just her own humiliation.

This was a shame that tainted the whole Fisher family!

It’s finished.

Now everything’s really over.

After tonight, she and the Fisher family were about to become the laughingstock of Kindowen’s high society, gossip fodder at every fancy dinner party.

She was just a girl from Crivel, and now she’d come all the way to Kindowen only to embarrass herself in front of all these big shots!

Sue’s mind was reeling. Just who is this Nerissa Jamison, anyway?’

Right then, the guests in the crowd finally realized what just happened.

“Oh my god! Did I really see that? Nerissa actually beat Sue Fisher?”

Someone who knew Go inside out immediately chimed in. ‘She brought new life to a dead board, risking it all with that move. Nerissa really is the true heir of the Sullivan and Berenson families, she’s got the brains of the Sullivans and the style of the Berensons!’

“Yeah, she really put herself on the line with that move!”

“Insane! That was just epic!”

“Nerissa actually beat Sue? Does this mean she’s on the same level as N?”

“Nerissa is seriously a genius. They say the spectators see the game best, but even we got tricked by her move. She totally fooled all of us.”

“Yeah, I’ve never seen a match this brilliant!”

“Looks like the Sullivan family is about to reach new heights with Nerissa leading the way!”

“Yeah, she’s so young and already this amazing. Honestly, it makes the rest of us look bad.”

The next moment, the room exploded with thunderous applause.

It was a wave of cheers and clapping that filled the air, relentless and overwhelming.

Faye Penhaligon literally jumped out of her seat. “Nerissa, you’re awesome! I always knew you were the best!”

The thirteen Berenson brothers were all fired up, unable to contain their excitement.

The older relatives were absolutely overjoyed, their faces full of pride and satisfaction.

Victor turned to his mother. “Mom, see? Didn’t I say so? Arie would never let us down.”

Mrs. Berenson nodded, her smile stretching from ear to ear.

Nerissa’s game totally won everyone over, hands down!

Mrs. Sullivan was bursting with pride as she looked at Mrs. Berenson. “Old Sis, our Arie really is the new wave outshining the old!”

“You said it!” Mrs. Berenson replied. She used to worry that after she went back to Minttown, Nerissa would be left alone in Kindowen and get picked on by Anna. But now, it was obvious, Arie could hold her own against anyone. Anna didn’t even stand a chance.

Anna couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

She was stunned that Nerissa had everyone eating out of her hand so easily.

She could hardly wrap her head around the fact that Nerissa had actually beaten Sue.

Sue wasn’t just anyone.

Anna had been so sure she could use Sue to embarrass Nerissa and turn her into a laughingstock in Kindowen.

But now?

Not only did she fail to embarrass Nerissa, she ended up putting her right in the spotlight!

Anna was fuming so hard she could barely hold it together.

Her face was ghostly pale.

“That damn brat! That little brat!” Anna clenched her fists so tight her long nails snapped, but she didn’t even

notice.

‘That little bitch Nerissa! Why can’t she just go die already?’ Anna seethed inside.

As Nerissa picked up the Fisher family’s treasured heirloom, Sue’s face went livid. “Nerissa… Miss Sullivan.”

Nerissa turned slightly, locking eyes with Sue. “Is there something else you want to say, Ms. Fisher?”

Sue pressed on, “The Ocean Star is our family’s heirloom, you can’t just walk off with it!”

‘No way,’ Sue thought, panic rising in her chest.

‘Nerissa can’t just snatch the Ocean Star away from me!’

‘The Ocean Star is mine!’

‘It’s the Fisher family’s heirloom!’

‘Nerissa’s move is basically like crapping all over the Fisher family,’ Sue fumed.

There was no way she was going to let Nerissa walk all over the Fisher family like this.

Besides, if her father ever found out she’d lost the Ocean Star, she was as good as dead!

Nerissa replied coolly, “Ms. Fisher, you were the one who challenged me, and you put up the prize yourself. Did you forget what you said before the match? If you did, everyone here heard you, they can all vouch for it!”

As soon as Nerissa finished, the guests jumped in. “Nerissa’s right! We’re all adults, if you lose, you lose. Ms. Fisher, you’re the Fisher family’s heiress, surely you can handle losing, right?”

“Sue, if you can’t handle losing, then don’t embarrass yourself!”

“Yeah, Sue, quit making a scene.”

“Tsk tsk tsk, who was it that said people who break their word are just shameless dogs?”

“So the Fisher family really is this shameless, huh?”

Now that everyone was backing Nerissa,

Sue was completely paralyzed, feeling like she was sitting on pins and needles. Her face was deathly pale, and she nearly passed out from the humiliation.

She could still remember, right before the match, everyone was rooting for her.

But now?

Unbelievable. All these people had suddenly switched sides and were cheering for Nerissa instead.

‘Just who is she?’ Sue wondered, her mind in turmoil.

Sue stared hard at Nerissa, her gaze so intense it was as if she wanted to burn a hole right through her.

But Nerissa acted like she didn’t even notice Sue’s glare. She just handed the Ocean Star to the butler standing nearby. “Keep it safe.”

“Yes, Ms. Jamison,” the butler replied.

“Arie, you crushed it!” Mrs. Berenson walked over with a huge grin, looping her arm through Nerissa’s. “That’s the kind of flair our Berenson family is known for!”
