"You're going to be the death of me!"
Mrs. Hayes shot up from her chair, went to the kitchen, and came back with two glasses of honey lemon water.
"I told you not to drink the hard stuff, Robert! Do my words just go in one ear and out the other?!"
Seeing Mr. Hayes still clutching his glass, Mrs. Hayes angrily snatched it away and pushed the honey lemon water in front of him.
She had brought out two glasses from the kitchen. One was for Mr. Hayes, and the other was naturally for Evan.

Eric waved a hand in front of Evan's face. When there was still no response, he finally realized what was going on and turned to Emma. "Emma! Evan's drunk! I thought he was fine!"
Emma glanced at the man beside her, his face slightly red from the alcohol, but said nothing.

Eric sighed dramatically and then, using all his strength, helped Evan to his feet.
"Careful now, Evan. Don't you fall, or my sneakers and jerseys are goners!"
Emma followed behind them. She had no desire to touch Evan, and besides, with the baby in her belly, the consequences of a fall on the stairs were unthinkable. So—
"Stop muttering and focus on helping him!" Emma said sternly, her arms crossed as she followed them.
"Emma, you're a heartless woman! That's your husband! Your husband is drunk, and you won't even lift a finger to help him. You're so cruel, my sister!" Eric complained, struggling to support Evan while turning his head to
