Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 290

That last sliver of hope was extinguished. Emma stood frozen in the doorway, her mind blank. After a few seconds, she shut the door and got back into the elevator.

Noticing Emma’s distress, Nathan’s voice was calm but laced with concern. “Let’s check the market first. Maybe she got lost and is waiting there.”

If she were just lost, that would be one thing. But the fact that her phone was off and she was unreachable was terrifying.

Her mom hadn't contacted her all afternoon.

Anxious and worried, Emma pulled out her phone and dialed her mother’s number again and again, but each call went straight to voicemail.

In case her mother had simply gotten lost on foot, they decided to walk to the market, following the pedestrian route.

The streets were nearly empty. At this hour, most people were already home having their holiday dinner.

Emma scanned her surroundings, her eyes darting everywhere as they made their way to the market.

But when they arrived, they found the market completely deserted. The vendors had packed up and gone home at six. Now, the entire place was shrouded in darkness, with only a few dim security lights casting a faint glow.

“Mom! Mom!”

Even though the market was empty, Emma walked in, her voice echoing in the silence as she called out for her mother.

There was no reply.
