Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 50

Emma gasped for air like a drowning person pleading for help from the shore.

After what felt like an eternity, the covers were suddenly thrown back. A rush of cold air swept in, instantly stealing what little warmth her body had left. Emma shivered, and her senses sharpened.

She panted heavily, staring at the hazy silhouette in the darkness.

Evan stared back down at her. In the faint light of the room, invisible to Emma, he licked his lips like a wolf about to taste blood.

“I… I don’t want to…”

Relying on her last shred of consciousness, Emma refused again.

But to Evan’s ears, her refusal sounded like a deeper invitation.

“You don’t want to? Emma, you’re already so wet.”

After he spoke, a low chuckle rumbled in his chest.

Whatever else might be said about their relationship, they had always been compatible in bed.

He leaned down, cupped Emma’s face, and gently kissed the corner of her mouth, his tongue slowly sliding inside to tangle with hers.

Reason was all but gone, completely overtaken by desire.

Emma’s last request was a simple one: “Use a condom.”

“Evan, put one on…” she pleaded, her legs pressed against his chest. “Use a condom…”

A dark glint flashed in Evan’s eyes before he responded, “Okay.”

In the darkness, neither could see the other’s face.

Emma heard the sound of the nightstand drawer opening, followed by a box, and then the tearing of a wrapper.

“It’s on.”

Hearing this, Emma reached out, about to check if he was telling the truth.

Seeing that he was awake too, Emma got out of bed without worrying about making noise.

“Why are you still home?”

She checked her phone. It was already eleven. He should have been at the office by now.

Evan said, “Things are slow at the office today. I’ll stay home with you.”

Emma frowned. If he was home, how was she supposed to get to the hospital later?

Though the thought troubled her, she said nothing. She quickly got ready and went downstairs, but after looking around, she couldn’t find Mrs. Alvarez.

Evan, who had followed her down, seemed to read her mind. He poured himself a glass of warm water and took a sip before saying casually, “I gave Mrs. Alvarez the day off. I’m staying home with you today.”

Emma turned to him, clearly displeased. “I want Mrs. Alvarez to stay. You’re not home often, and I feel more at ease with her here.”

“Okay, fine,” Evan agreed easily. “But I’m home now. We can have her come back in a couple of days.”
