Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 54

【Holy crap, so that’s the other woman?】

Emma scrolled through the comments with a blank expression, unsure of what she was feeling. It was the first time she had been the subject of public gossip.

As she was reading, a message from Evan popped up at the top of her screen.

[Don’t look at your phone. Please let me explain, okay?]

Emma glanced at it, swiped it away, and set her notifications to silent.

She went back to the comments.

【All men are the same. Once they get rich, they forget their wives. Tsk, tsk. I just feel bad for his wife. Hope she doesn't find out she’s being cheated on from the internet.】

【No way. Rich people like them usually have an open relationship. You think she’s just finding out now? She’s probably best friends with the other woman!】

The line rang.

Her message notifications were off, so now he was calling.

Emma meant to hit the red button to decline, but she accidentally pressed the green one instead.

A second later, Evan’s frantic voice came through the phone. “Emma, don’t listen to what they’re saying online. It’s all fake. Last night, I didn’t—”

Click.

Before Evan could finish his explanation, Emma powered off her phone.

When Evan tried calling back, all he heard was: “Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.”

Thud!

Hearing the automated message, Evan violently threw his phone.

Panic began to set in. He wanted to find her, but besides her phone, he had no other way to contact her.

Suddenly, an idea struck him. Evan raced back up to the second-floor bedroom and yanked open the closet, his heart pounding with fear. When he saw her clothes neatly arranged inside, a wave of relief washed over him.

He stood there, stunned, trying to think of where she could possibly be.

Besides him, Emma had no family or friends in Averton City. So where else could she go?

A thought flashed through his mind—

The hospital!

Without a second thought, his body moved before his mind could catch up. Evan bolted out the door, colliding with Mrs. Alvarez, who had just arrived to clean.

She looked surprised to see him and was about to say something, but Evan didn’t give her the chance. “Sorry, Mrs. Alvarez!” he yelled, rushing out of the house in a desperate hurry.
