"But now he knows Sienna told me everything," Sylvia said, a knot of worry forming in her chest.

Lester reached out and took her hand.

"Don't break up with me. He wouldn't dare openly declare war on the Sanford family."

"No." Sylvia pulled her hand away, refusing instantly. "I'll only drag you down. You've been amazing to me, and you've done more than enough. I can't use you."

Lester gazed at her softly. "How do you know I don't have selfish motives? Sylvia, I know you've got a massive hurdle in your heart. Let me help you get over it. Please don't push me away."

"This is actually what I wanted to tell you after the bachelor party."

He gave a small smile. His eyes curved warmly like the spring sun, and the gentle curve of his lips banished the chill lingering in the room.

He was such a gentle, steadfast man.

Sylvia knew exactly how wonderful he was, which was precisely why she couldn't burden him.

Sylvia sat there stunned.

She had spent all this time believing Rupert deliberately claimed nothing happened to protect Sienna's identity.

Because of his lie, her showing up in Lester's room looking like a mess perfectly shielded Sienna, leaving Wen Lan with no ammunition.

She never imagined he genuinely had zero memory of it.

Sylvia subconsciously touched her numb hand.
