Sylvia asked Ms. Ward, "What are you praying for?"

Ms. Ward cried, "I'm heartbroken. I'm so miserable."

"Didn't you just start dating?"

"We broke up," Ms. Ward put her hands on her hips.

"Why?"

Sylvia remembered Ms. Ward saying she had met Mr. Right.

Ms. Ward pouted. "There was a cold snap recently. I told him to bring an extra jacket to work, and he said I acted like a mother hen. If caring about him makes me a mother hen now, wouldn't I just be a free maid if we got married?"

To comfort Ms. Ward, Sylvia accompanied her into St. Jude's Abbey.

The abbey wasn't large. It was simple and rustic, looking exceptionally peaceful in the shadows of the trees.

Sunlight fell on the mottled walls, full of a sense of time and history.

Chanting came from the hall, and people stood outside praying devoutly.

A moment later, they lined up to enter.

Sylvia was dragged into the line by Ms. Ward. She whispered, "I'm not praying for marriage."

Ms. Ward smiled, "You can pray for other things too."

Sylvia thought that made sense. Since she was already here, she might as well.

She followed Ms. Ward into the hall. They bought candles and prayed in the center of the flickering room.

Sylvia slowly closed her eyes.

Hoping her hand would recover.

Hoping her future would go smoothly.

A face surfaced in her mind, and she couldn't help but open her eyes to look up at the statue.

For some reason, she felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity in her heart.

But this was clearly her first time visiting the mountain abbey.

While she was reminiscing, Ms. Ward nudged her arm.

"Put the candle down, there are people waiting behind us."

"Yeah."

Sylvia snapped back to reality, placed the candle on the table, and left through the other door.

Before leaving, a simply dressed young monk had everyone choose a Votive Charm, symbolizing that their wishes would come true.

Sylvia casually took one and left the hall.
