"Capture that woman at all costs and bring her to our emperor. She possesses something extraordinary," Shi Ji said, a smile forming on his normally stoic face. However, it was a smile that concealed a dangerous intent, his once-calm blue eyes now clouded with a deepening darkness.
"For centuries, almost a billion years, no one has managed to attain that ancient inscription. Who is she?" Demon Prince Xie licked her lips, her sharp red eyes fixated on Di Xiuyu as if she were stalking her prey.
No one could provide an answer, and what happened next was swift. Shi Ji took matters into his own hands, personally approaching Di Xiuyu. Anyone who dared to interfere met a cruel fate. Those loyal to Di Xiuyu sacrificed themselves to fend off the Demon King Shi, but they were mercilessly cut down in the process.
Di Xiuyu felt a chill run through her as she struggled against Shi Ji, realizing just how outmatched she was. His grip tightened around her delicate neck, and it felt like the world around her faded, leaving only his blind, indifferent gaze.
Shock rippled through the crowd at this turn of events.
"Yao, Yasha," Shi Ji commanded, "come with me. I’ll take this woman to our emperor. She might be the one he’s been searching for." With no interest in lingering, he vanished with Yao and Yasha in tow.
"Release her!" The leaders of all factions erupted in anger. They attempted to pursue him, but Shi Ji unleashed another ten ice beasts, as formidable as the ones Shenlian Yingyue had previously defeated.
"Where do you think you’re going?" Bi Xie, tall and imposing, blocked the way of anyone attempting to rescue Di Xiuyu.
Before they could respond, the Invisible Demon launched an attack. Though wounded by Xie Xie earlier, he found it easy to deal with these humans who couldn’t perceive him, unlike the sharp-eyed Xie Xie.
"Despicable! You’re just playing tricks! Let her go!" the humans shouted in anger.
"We demons don’t care what you think, weaklings! Admit your weakness instead of blaming us," one demon sneered. "And who do you think you are to give us orders?"
"Oh yes, the weak among us managed to defeat you demons easily!" the humans shot back, refusing to back down.
"Yet you struggle to defend your own homes!" one of the demon generals laughed loudly.
"Let’s show them! Stand united, fight stronger! We fight not just to protect our treasures and our homes, but for our dignity and our future!" one of the strongest human leaders called out, rallying everyone.
"Fight for our dignity and future!" the humans roared, energized and ready.
"And we fight to remind you of your rightful place beneath us! Prepare to experience true despair, humans!" Bi Xie laughed coldly as she charged forward, accompanied by the demon generals, upper-ranked demons, and other fiends.
It was unclear who would emerge victorious, as the demons numbered less than a thousand, while humans were in the billions. Though only a thousand humans had weapons capable of killing demons, the demons were not easy prey.
Initially, the Demon King and Elders had sent just five hundred demons to the Human Realm for missions since humans couldn’t harm them.
Suddenly, her world tilted as her master threw her onto the grass.
"Ugh!" She gasped as she coughed up blood, the unexpected force catching her off guard. Her injuries still hadn’t healed, and his strength was considerable.
Before she could process what had just happened, she heard him arguing with himself.
"Big brother, why are you doing this?" Xiong Zi Ying’s narrowed gaze fixed on her pained expression, but his body seemed to resist his will, refusing to approach her.
"Ying, think clearly! She’s merely a pawn; you don’t need to care for her," Xiong Yi Chen, the darker voice within Xiong Zi Ying, retorted coldly.
The warmth in Xiong Zi Ying’s eyes faded, replaced by a chilling intensity as Xiong Yi Chen stepped forward with a predatory gaze.
Shenlian Yingyue felt a wave of pain wash over her. She instinctively crawled backward as he approached, her thoughts racing. She couldn’t bring herself to strike this man who had taken over her master’s body; she couldn’t hurt her master, even if it meant defending herself.
"Don’t hurt her!" Xiong Zi Ying’s internal struggle was evident, but how could he contend with Xiong Yi Chen’s ruthless ambition to reclaim power for their clan?
Xiong Zi Ying’s expression twisted in conflict, one moment filled with cold malice and the next softening to the familiar warmth she knew well. She could sense his desperate fight to prevent his brother from causing her harm.
