"Your Majesty!" Run Chu walked over, wanting to reach out to him, but Shen Xian indifferently dodged her touch. He had never liked being touched.
"Concubine Run, have you forgotten His Majesty’s words? Why did you bring her to this prison with your schemes?" One of the Demon Elders frowned in disapproval.
"I didn’t," Run Chu shook her head.
"No? Look at what you’ve done. You’ve completely messed up our plan!" The two Demon Elders glared at her coldly.
"Plan? What plan? Your Majesty, no matter what you want, I can give it to you. I am not inferior to her. I can help you!" Run Chu desperately sought Shen Xian’s attention, her voice hoarse with emotion.
"Run Chu, my beloved concubine, do you really think you can be like her?" Shen Xian’s lips curved into a smile, yet his venomous words shattered her heart into pieces.
With just one question, all of Run Chu’s hope and joy crumbled. Her face turned pale, her body weakened, but Run Jue caught her in time.
"Demon King Shi, obey my order! Take Concubine Run to the Punishment Hall." Shen Xian’s words were absolute, allowing no one to plead for her.
"Punishment Hall? Your Majesty, I have been by your side for over a hundred years, and yet you remain so heartless to me," Run Chu smiled bitterly, tears slipping from her eyes as she looked at the man who now sought to punish her for another woman’s sake.
This was the man she had loved for centuries. She lowered her head, laughing dejectedly, before pushing Run Jue away.
"Your Majesty, my sister is your beloved wife. She has been with you for a long time and has done so much for you. Why do you punish her for the sake of an outsider?" Run Jue’s once sunny smile had long faded, replaced by coldness and wrath. His red eyes were as deep as a bottomless abyss.
Di Xiuyu sneered. She thoroughly enjoyed watching this scheming woman look so dejected. It brought her pleasure.
"What has she done for me? Everything I have achieved is through my own hard work. I have never relied on any man or woman to get where I am today." Shen Xian’s smile grew brighter, yet every word denied the relationships he had with everyone.
There was one thing he didn’t tell them, he wasn’t punishing Run Chu for Di Xiuyu’s sake. He was punishing her for disobeying his orders. He was born to be their ruler, and they were bound to respect him. That was the law of this realm, yet time and again, they defied him.
"Even so, without my sister’s loyalty, you would have been in danger. She has helped you eliminate countless traitors in the harem and the clan, punishing those who disobeyed you," Run Jue argued angrily. He wanted justice for his sister!
Shenlian Yingyue tried to make herself as inconspicuous as possible. She felt helpless, she should have been training instead of witnessing a dispute that had nothing to do with her.
Shen Xian merely smiled lightly, paying no attention to Run Jue’s wrath and words.
"Demon King Run, you were supposed to be His Majesty’s most trusted subordinate. Yet now, for your sister’s sake, you dare to question his decision? He commanded you to watch over Di Xiuyu, yet you and your sister conspired to harm her. Do you deserve His Majesty’s trust?" one of the Demon Elders said coldly.
"It’s your and your sister’s duty to help him eliminate the traitors from our realm, your home. His Majesty has protected us all, so why are you making it seem like he forced you?" Another Demon Elder asked with a frown.
Run Jue wanted to retort, but Run Chu stopped him just in time. If he spoke out recklessly, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"What, do you intend to rebel? Don’t forget that your clan members are loyal to His Majesty. If you rebel, be prepared to face the consequences," the Demon Elder warned.
