Chapter 101
Third Person’s POV
“It was… Mrs. Craig, sir.”
Marcus forced the words out, his voice shaking
He knew he’d screwed up. He’d seen the hunger in that girl’s eyes the second she walked in, but he wasn’t about to tell “Mrs. Craig” no.
He’d followed orders and dropped her right into the executive suite as a clerk.
Who could’ve guessed she’d try to climb the CEO on day one?
Yolanda, standing by the door, took a deep breath and rubbed her temples. Her sympathy for Marcus was growing, but mostly she just felt embarrassed for the company.
She leaned in and dropped a low-frequency truth bomb, “Director Marcus, you’ve got one major detail wrong. That woman… she isn’t Mrs. Craig.”
“What?” Marcus blinked, the gears in his head grinding to a halt. “Then why did she never correct anyone when we called her ‘ Ma’am’?”
Yolanda’s mouth twitched. She didn’t have an answer for that.
Mortimer, however, was starting to smell the rot.
He narrowed his eyes, his pupils shifting into lethal slits as he locked onto Marcus. “Explain. Now.”
Marcus looked at the girl on the floor, who was now a trembling, tear-streaked mess.
The girl choked back a sob. “Sir… I… Miss Davis sent me. She personally recommended me.”
She was a Vivian Davis super-fan, a loyalist from the influencer’s inner circle who’d been hunting for a job in LA
She was the one who first spotted the “handsome brother” in Vivian’s videos and realized he was the Alpha of the Craig Group.
She’d slid into Vivian’s DMs, asking for a favor, and Vivian had played the part of the powerful benefactor, bragging that
Mortimer did whatever she said.
Two days later, the girl had an offer letter.
She thought it was her ticket to the top.
When she saw Mortimer’s face in person this morning-a face ten times more lethal than the magazines-she’d decided to make her move.
“Mr. Craig, please! I just didn’t want you to get burned! Give me another chance!” She put on her best “damsel in distress” performance, hoping for a shred of Alpha pity.
Yolanda watched with cold, detached boredom.
Nice try with the waterworks, kid. But she was crying at a man who had zero tolerance for anyone’s scent but his mate’s. 1
To Mortimer, her tears weren’t a plea; they were an irritant. Barton was growling in his chest, a low, rhythmic warning.
“Get her out of my sight,” Mortimer growled.
The girl’s performance collapsed into a shrill, jagged shriek.
Marcus, terrified for his own career, didn’t wait.

He grabbed her by the arm and literally dragged her out of the office.
Mortimer sat back in his chair, lits eyes fixed on Yolanda. “What the hell is going on in this building?”
Yolanda didn’t hold back. She laid out the entire history-the day Vivian walked in, the way the staff assumed she was his wife,
and the way Vivian had leaned into the lie without a single correction.
Mortimer’s face was turning a dangerous, bruised shade of purple.
“There’s more, isn’t there?” he asked, thinking back to Professor Bauer’s rage this morning.
He was finally seeing the source of the “homewrecker” narrative.
Ridiculous.
“Uh…” Yolanda hesitated.
Did Mr. Craig seriously not see the internet?
Then again, he probably didn’t have a single social app on his phone.
This was how Vivian had managed to build a million-follower brand off his name while he stayed in the dark.
To the world, his silence was a signature on her lies.
