Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 133

Chapter 133

Third Person’s PQV

“Does it ever get embarrassing? Dragging yourself here every time when everyone knows your mate doesn’t even see you?” Felicity stepped closer, her maids shadowing her like vultures.

Her voice went from acid to a low, jagged taunt.

“Don’t blame me for being blunt, Sera. I just hate seeing a mediocre she-wolf like you waste her youth on a contract that’s already a corpse. Mortimer is an Alpha-you know exactly what kind of man he is. You can charm him all you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re a ghost in this territory.”

Felicity took another step, her eyes narrowing. “If I were you, I’d have the self-respect to pack my bags and disappear. Even the omegas know you’ve lost your grip.””

The lead maid let out a muffled, mocking snicker. She scanned Seraphina’s simple street clothes with a look of pure, borrowed

contempt.

In the past, these words would have been a serrated blade to Seraphina’s heart. She would have stood there, humiliated, trying to keep her dignity while her world crumbled.

But today? Today, it sounded like music.

Seraphina looked at Felicity, then at the two “guard dogs” in maid uniforms. Instead of flinching, she let out a soft, genuine laugh-a sound of pure, unburdened relief.

“You know what? You’re absolutely right,” Seraphina said, nodding with a brightness that caught Felicity off guard. “This ‘dead -end’ mating is a total drag. It’s definitely time to cut the cord.”

Felicity froze. Her perfectly lined eyes went wide with shock.

She hadn’t expected this.

Usually, when she threw these thorns, Seraphina would wear that tragic, wounded expression-looking like a pup caught in the rain with nowhere to go.

And yet, she’d always show up. She’d always be there to have tea with the elders or play chess with a patience that Felicity found pathetic.

To Felicity, it was just a desperate grab for power through the back door.

The sharp insults Felicity had prepared died in her throat, silenced by Seraphina’s effortless smile.

“Maybe you should focus on your own mate’s delusions, Aunt Felicity, and leave Sera and me to our business.”

Mortimer’s voice cut through the air like a winter gale. It was cold, lethal, and carried the heavy aura of an Alpha’s Command.

The two maids visible recoiled, their hands dropping as they scrambled to get out of the way.

“Mortimer? You’re… you’re back?” Felicity stammered, her arrogance evaporating.

It wasn’t her fault she was surprised.

Mortimer, the man running an empire, rarely graced these family dinners with his presence-and he never arrived in the same car as Seraphina.

Felicity had seen her walking up the path alone and assumed it was the usual “abandoned wife” routine.

“Do I need to file a report with you before I enter my own family home?” Mortimer stepped into the light, his dark red eyes flickering with a dangerous, unstable energy.

He was already vibrating with a toxic mix of jealousy and guilt from the car ride. Hearing his aunt tell Seraphina to leave him— and hearing Seraphina agree with a smile-was the final spark.

He needed a target for his rage, and Felicity had just volunteered.

Inside his mind, Barton was letting out a guttural, jagged roar. Mortimer’s pine-scented pheromones flooded the entryway, thick with a possessive, territorial heat that made the air feel like lead.

“Is the reason you’re so ‘concerned’ about my mating because your husband’s latest collection of trash paintings failed to sell again?” Mortimer’s smile was razor-thin and devoid of warmth. “Are you here to beg the pack for another bailout?”

Felicity’s face went rigid. She knew what was happening-her nephew was using her as a punching bag for his own frustrations.

But in the hierarchy of the pack, she didn’t have the rank to push back against the Alpha, regardless of her age.

“Oh, please,” Felicity said, her voice shaking slightly. “This is where I was born, I’m here to see my father. Is that a crime?”
