Chapter 153
Third Person’s POV
Lately, Seraphina had been seriously questioning if Mortimer suffered from a severe split personality.
And tonight, his mental fracture had clearly reached an uncontrollable peak.
Before seeing Dash, Mortimer was grinding his teeth with pure hatred, radiating enough bloodlust to shred the guy to pieces.
But the second he actually met Dash face-to-face? Not only did he miraculously adopt a dog as his little brother, but he also
practically rolled out the red carpet to invite the mutt into his Alpha estate.
It wasn’t like this cold-blooded tyrant took one look at a stray puppy and got instantly conquered by its charm, right?
Hearing the apartment address from Seraphina’s mouth, a mocking sneer flashed in Wilmot’s eyes.
He stomped the gas pedal straight to the floor. Accompanied by the violent roar of the engine, the luxury Maybach shot forward through the night like a bolt of black lightning.
If it weren’t for the goddamn L.A. city speed limits, Wilmot swore he would have flown this car like a fighter jet.
He absolutely refused to let that scheming bastard Mortimer enjoy a single extra second of smugness in his back seat.
Seraphina’s rejection didn’t exceed Mortimer’s expectations.
Even though a flash of undeniable disappointment crossed Mortimer’s’eyes, he surprisingly kept his mouth shut and defaulted to her decision without a fight.
The car sped through the city and rolled smoothly to a stop outside Seraphina’s rented apartment building.
This was a high-end zip code in Los Angeles, which meant the building’s security system was incredibly tight.
The moment Wilmot’s Maybach slowed down at the complex entrance, the security guard on duty stepped out and did his job.
“I’m sorry, sir. Outside vehicles aren’t permitted inside the gated area.”
The young guard walked briskly up to the multi-million-dollar luxury car. His tone was incredibly respectful, but his stance was a brick wall.
Wilmot raised an eyebrow, not bothering to give the guy a hard time.
He glanced through the rearview mirror at Mortimer, who was still tightly cradling Dash in the back seat, and a wicked, provocative smirk pulled at his lips. “Well, since the car can’t go in, why don’t you just carry Dash and walk the rest of the way? You’ve got plenty of strength, right?”
Normally, Mortimer would have flat-out refused. But this time, he was unbelievably compliant.
He just gave a low, rumbling “Hn,” carefully supported the puppy in his arms, and ducked out of the cabin.
Dash, barely a month old, was completely wiped out. After surviving a night of absolute torture on the edge of death, the puppy was incredibly fragile.
Maybe the sheer heat of Mortimer’s Alpha body gave him enough of a sense of security, but on the drive back, the little guy had already buried his face into Mortimer’s chest and fallen fast asleep.
His damp, matted fur still reeked of the disgusting sewer sludge, and right now, he was rubbing it all over Mortimer’s priceless bespoke coat and handmade wool vest without a care in the world.
The second Mortimer stepped out of the car, the cold night wind blew the stench of raw sewage straight into the young security guard’s nose.

The guard pressed his lips into a tight line, looking at this massive, god-like handsome man with intense, complicated confusion.
This guy looked like the ultimate top-tier elite, so why the hell did he smell like he just crawled out of a storm drain?
His eyes naturally drifted down, finally landing on Mortimer’s soaked, sludge-covered dress pants that were ruined all the way up to his calves.
Oh my god, he actually fell in a sewer.
The guard screamed internally. Desperate not to show his absolute disgust, he clamped his mouth shut and subtly took two steps backward to create a buffer zone.
“Right this way for visitor registration, folks.”
As the legal resident of the complex, Seraphina brought the group over and signed them in before the guard finally let them pass.
Wilmot found a temporary street parking spot, killed the engine, and totally abandoned his usual laid-back swagger. He jogged up the walkway to catch up with the group.
He would absolutely never admit that he was just looking for a desperate excuse to get closer to his beloved Trista.
Carrying Dash, Mortimer intentionally slowed his pace, casually making sure he was walking shoulder-to-shoulder with Seraphina.
