Third Person’s POV

Seraphina stepped aside to let Mortimer in, only then noticing the sleek, high-end insulated lunchbox in his hand.
Mortimer held it out to her. “You haven’t eaten breakfast yet, right? I brought you something.”
Seraphina froze for a second. After a brief hesitation, she reached out and took it. “Thanks.”
She walked over to the dining table, sat down, and popped the lid. Inside was a freshly made, gourmet sandwich.
She had seen Mortimer in the kitchen recently and had actually tasted his cooking a few times; this was definitely his
handiwork.
Meanwhile, Mortimer walked straight over to the fluffy dog bed, dropping into a half-squat to greet the puppy. “Dash. I’m here.

Hearing Mortimer refer to himself as just “I”-instead of throwing around his usual high-and-mighty, third-person Alpha titles-still felt incredibly weird to Seraphina.
But Mortimer seemed to have completely adapted to this new dynamic. Honestly, he looked like he was enjoying it.
Dash seemed to understand exactly who was talking. The puppy stretched his little fuzzy head out and obediently nudged against Mortimer’s palm.
Feeling the puppy’s warm response, a microscopic, deeply satisfied smile flickered in the depths of Mortimer’s eyes.
Back in the pack, he had heard the elder wolves say that if you want to successfully win back a mate, you have to bribe her family
first.
That advice was absolutely spot-on.
Even though Seraphina was still treating him with icy detachment, her defensive walls were visibly lower than they had been a few days ago.
All the credit went to this little stray dog.
Mortimer leaned in close to Dash’s ear, dropping his voice to a low whisper only the two of them could hear: “I bought you a massive shipment of premium canned meat.” 1
Dash’s round eyes visibly lit up, his floppy ears twitching with instant excitement.
Mortimer hung around the apartment until Seraphina was ready to head out for work. He scooped Dash out of the bed and stood up. “Let’s walk out together.”
Seraphina just gave a noncommittal tilt of her chin, not bothering to refuse.
However, the second she pulled the front door open, she was greeted by Tade standing right outside the frame, wearing an aggressively perfect, blindingly bright customer-service smile.
“Tade?” Seraphina blinked, genuinely surprised.
“Good morning, Luna Seraphina.” Tade’s smile was almost unnervingly enthusiastic.
“How long have you been standing out here? Why didn’t you come inside?”
“You’re too kind, Luna, but I just arrived.” Tade smoothly stepped to the side, clearing the walkway. “After you, Luna. Alpha.”
Seraphina stared at Tade’s overly radiant, bizarrely cheerful face, a flicker of deep suspicion crossing her eyes.
But she walked out anyway. The moment she and Mortimer stepped into the elevator side-by-side-with Mortimer cradling

Dash in his arms–the rapid fire click-click-click of à camera shutter suddenly exploded in the small space.
She frowned and whipped her head around, catching Tade red-handed. Tade had his phone raised, frantically snapping burst photos of her and Mortimer from the corner of the elevator.
“Tade, what exactly are you doing?”
During her three years mated with Mortimer, even though she and Mortimer were essentially strangers, Tade-as a core member of the Blade pack’s inner circle-had always treated her with absolute, unwavering respect.
Because of that, even though she was currently being treated like a paparazzi target, Seraphina wasn’t angry. Just thoroughly
confused.
“It’s a PR strategy,” Mortimer said. He leaned his head down, his warm breath deliberately brushing against her ear as he dropped his voice into an intimate whisper. “I told Tade to take a few candid shots so the PR department can leak them and crush the divorce rumors.”
Hearing the logic, Seraphina instantly relaxed. “Got it.”
“When we step out of the lobby, just act natural,” Mortimer reminded her softly. “We can’t let the media think we’re staging a photo op.”
The elevator was small, and Tade did his absolute best to compress himself into the corner, diligently playing the role of an invisible background prop.
Seraphina’s apartment building was located directly across the street from the healing center.
After exiting the lobby, Mortimer carried Dash as he and Seraphina walked out of the gated complex together.
The second they hit the sidewalk, George rolled the black Bentley out from an adjacent driveway, smoothly pulling up to the
