Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 239

Chapter 239

Third Person’s POV

Vivian kept bringing up Caldwell, deliberately hinting that he coveted the Lycan throne for two reasons: first, to make Mortimer feel challenged, and second, to make him suspect Seraphina of infidelity. 1

Deep within Mortimer’s consciousness, his wolf, Barton, was raging, violently clawing at the walls of his mind. “Rip her apart, Mortimer! This lying she-wolf is slandering our Luna! The stench on her is making me sick! I want to tear her throat out!”

Mortimer coldly replied in his mind, “Shut up, Barton. Kill her, and we lose Seraphina for good. I want that tumor cut out-root and all.”

Mortimer never even glanced at Vivian’s bruised wrist. When she finished speaking, he remained silent.

Vivian’s sobs gradually subsided. Looking up, she found his expression even darker than before.

Certain he’d fallen for her lies, she secretly rejoiced. Already thinking about how to steer the conversation toward lifting the pressure on her family, she was about to press her advantage when Mortimer finally spoke. “So… what exactly did you say to make my wife angry?”

The words caught in Vivian’s throat.

She stared blankly at his grim face, a creeping unease washing over her. She finally realized that although his voice was ice- cold, the moment he uttered the words “my wife,” it softened-tinged with something unmistakably protective.

So, he wasn’t furious because Seraphina had slapped her-he was furious because she had dared to provoke Seraphina.

“L.. I didn’t say anything.” Vivian shook her head frantically. “I only went to beg her… I just wanted her to persuade you to let my family off.”

“My wife doesn’t hit people without a reason. Do I need to call her myself and ask what you said?” Mortimer’s gaze turned glacial. His Alpha aura bore down on her like a mountain.

The smug satisfaction drained out of Vivian.

“N-No… Mortimer… I didn’t…” Her voice trembled uncontrollably.

“I’ll ask you one last time.” His eyes bored into hers. “What did you say to her?”

Under his intimidating gaze, Vivian’s last shred of courage crumbled; her lips quivered.

Unable to withstand the overwhelming aura any longer, she finally confessed everything. She admitted to humiliating Seraphina on campus, accusing her of cheating, and cruelly declared that Dash had deserved what happened to it.

When she finished, she didn’t even dare look at Mortimer. Her sobs grew louder. “Mortimer, I only said those things because I was angry and scared! That man almost broke my wrist! I was trying to get back at her-I didn’t mean any of it! They drove me to it!”

She kept crying, desperately trying to justify herself.

Rising from behind his desk, Mortimer walked toward her with slow, measured steps. His shadow completely engulfed her.

Panic stripped away the last of Vivian’s pitiful act. She slumped to the ground, finally realizing she was finished. Every trick she’d played had failed. She hadn’t managed to turn Mortimer against Seraphina for even a fraction of a second.

Left with no other choice, she played her final card–the fact that she had once saved his life-to force him into sparing her and her family.

Clinging desperately to that final shred of hope, she screamed, “Mortimer! You can’t do this to me! I saved your life, remember? Now that you’re an Alpha, you’re just going to turn your back on me? How can you be so ungrateful! Please… I once saved you—

let me go this time. I swear I’ll never do it again!

“Mortimer… please…”

She trailed off as Mortimer coldly reached over to his desk and picked up a stainless-steel utility knife.

With a flick of his thumb, the blade slid out, its razor-sharp edge flashing with a cold, blinding gleam..

“Ah!” Vivian’s face turned deathly pale as she scrambled backward. “Mortimer… W-What are you doing?”

The next second, the knife hit the floor in front of her with a sharp clang.

“Because you saved my life,” Mortimer said, looking down at her, his eyes empty andunfathomable. “I trusted you blindly and backed you up at every turn.

“Return everything your family has taken from the Craig Group and from me over the years. And I’ll give you back my life.”

Vivian’s face was ashen with fear. Her arms gave out beneath her as she struggled to crawl backward.

Even her wolf, after seeing the knife glinting on the floor, whimpered in terror and retreated to the deepest corner of her

consciousness.

Only now did she truly understand-Mortimer was completely done with her.

A timid Omega, she would never dare to harm a high-level Alpha like him. Even if she somehow found the courage to kill him, her family could never repay what they owed.
