Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 256

Chapter 256

Third Person’s POV

Before, with Mortimer pulling strings behind the scenes, even if Vivian went to prison, she wouldn’t have stayed there for long.

But things were different now-Mortimer knew Vivian wasn’t the person who had saved him, and he was determined to drive the Davis family business straight into the ground for the sake of his Luna

Unless someone stepped in to take over the stalled projects, the Davis family was staring down total bankruptcy.

Connor was furious and desperate.

As soon as Vivian’s crimes came to light, angry internet users swarmed Everreach Building Materials’ official account, unleashing a torrent of abuse.

In less than half a day, the company’s stock price hit rock bottom, dealing Connor another devastating blow.

“Dad, what do we do?” Vivian wailed. “I don’t want to go to prison. Please make my brother sign the settlement agreement.” In her emotional breakdown, her Omega pheromones turned sour and acrid, grating on Connor’s already frayed nerves.

“Shut up!” Connor whipped around, his wolf letting out a guttural snarl of fury.

He slapped Vivian across the face and snapped, “I must have been out of my goddamn mind to marry that idiot Lillian and end up with a daughter as vicious and useless as you! I’m not making your brother sign anything. You can rot in prison for all I care.”

Vivian’s face went pale as she stared at him in disbelief.

She couldn’t accept that these words were coming from the father who had always doted on her the most. “Dad… you’re giving up on me?”

“If you hadn’t kept provoking Seraphina, we’d still be living comfortably off that debt Mortimer owes us! Our family could’ve stayed under the protection of the Blade pack forever! Instead, you shamelessly threw yourself at him even after he made it clear he wasn’t interested. Then you just had to keep stirring up trouble. Now the truth about you framing his Luna is out. Do you really think Mortimer’s going to let you off?”

Connor’s fury mounted with every word, his face turning beet red. “Go to prison and pay for what you’ve done. Maybe Mortimer will spare Everreach, seeing how genuinely sorry we are.”

Vivian understood exactly what he meant.

Her eyes widened as she screamed, “Dad! You’re sacrificing me to win Mortimer’s forgiveness? Don’t forget–without my saving his life, Everreach would’ve been nothing! How can you use me as a bargaining chip now?”

Another slap landed across her face with a sharp crack.

This time, Connor put all his strength into it. Vivian’s head snapped to the side, and even the nose she’d had surgically enhanced went crooked, leaving her looking almost ridiculous.

“And don’t you forget-you never saved Mortimer’s life!” Conner roared. “I paid two million to buy that favor from the old bastard! If I’d known you’d be this stupid, I would’ve given that credit to your brother instead!”

Vivian completely lost it. The beast inside her erupted in a fit of hysterical rage. “Oh, so now you regret it? You think I don’t know why you let Mortimer believe it was me instead of Rolf? You wanted me to become the Blade pack’s Luna! Rolf would never have gotten you that.”

Connor clutched his chest, nearly passing out from anger. It took him a long moment to recover, and then he jabbed a finger at her and exploded. “That’s right! I did hope you’d become Mortimer’s Luna! But who knew you’d be such a hopeless failure? Even with a favor like that holding him to you, he still wasn’t interested!”

That remark hit Vivian where it hurt most.

With a shrill scream, she grabbed whatever she could find in the living room and hurled it at Connor. One object struck his forehead, splitting the skin and drawing blood.

Completely drained, Conner collapsed onto the sofa without another word.

“Keep acting like a lunatic if you want,” he said weakly after a long silence. “Maybe you’ll get lucky and be declared mentally unfit. That might keep you out of prison. But I done with you. You’re on your own.” He waved her away, slumping into the cushions as though every ounce of strength had left him.

Only then did Vivian panic. Her mother was already behind bars. If her father abandoned her, she’d be finished.

She hurried to Connor, crying and begging, “Dad, I’m sorry. I was out of my mind just now-I didn’t mean what I said. Please… please help me. I’m begging you.”

But Connor could barely save himself. With Everreach on the verge of collapse, he was drowning in debt. He didn’t have the energy to fight for her anymore.

“I really can’t do anything for you,” he said, forcing his trembling body to his feet. “You’re on your own.” Without another glance, he slowly made his way upstairs, ignoring her desperate cries.

The news of Vivian’s arrest made it to T*****r’s trending topics that very night.

Seraphina was shocked when she saw it—she hadn’t expected Mortimer to be so ruthless toward Vivian, the woman who had

saved his life.

“What are you thinking about?” Caldwell leaned over beside her.

“Nothing. I was just surprised that Mortimer’s savior got arrested.”
