Chapter 271
Third Person’s POV
Garfield hadn’t completely lost consciousness yet, but since he had taken the brunt of the collision head-on, his injuries looked the most severe. Blood kept spilling from his mouth.
Soon, the piercing wail of sirens drew near. Ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks arrived at the scene in record time.
When the paramedics rushed over, they immediately loaded Seraphina and her parents onto stretchers.
Of the four, only Caldwell remained conscious.
He stood there, motionless, violently suppressing the feral fury and manièrage tearing through his inner wolf.
His gaze fell upon the totaled car, his eyes dark and heavy.
The driver of the truck had already been rolled away by another ambulance, leaving behind nothing but a chaotic wreck.
“Sir, you need to come with us to the medical center for a full checkup to make sure there’s no internal bleeding,” a paramedic urged, seeing Caldwell standing frozen on the spot.
Caldwell hid the freezing malice deep within his eyes, nodded, and stepped into the ambulance.
When Seraphina woke up at the Shadowfang Healing Center, she felt as if her neck had been brutally snapped in half. The pain was excruciating.
Her mind was still a chaotic fog. She could only open her eyes, staring blankly at the sterile white ceiling.
“Sera, you’re awake.” A familiar man’s voice sounded beside her ear.
She tried to turn her head, but the slightest movement triggered a sharp, agonizing jolt in her spine, making her tightly knit her brows in pain.
“Don’t move. You injured your cervical spine,” Mortimer checked her quickly, stopping her from moving. “Tell me whatever you need. I’m here to help.”
Seraphina stared at Mortimer for a long moment, her eyes still clouded with confusion.
She parted her lips, trying to speak.
Mortimer quickly leaned in, pressing his ear close to her lips. “What are you trying to say?”
“What… what happened to me?”
Mortimer’s body stiffened slightly. As he felt his mate’s familiar scent so weak and fragile, his throat tightened as he replied, ” You guys were in a car accident on the way to the airport. You’re at the medical center right now.”
A car accident?
The blankness in Seraphina’s eyes slowly gave way to a creeping panic.
She suddenly struggled to sit up, but every bone in her body felt as if it had been shattered; the moment she shifted, the pain was unbearable.
Inside the room, the heart monitors began to beep frantically due to her spiking emotions, causing Mortimer’s face to pale
