Seraphina’s POV

He clocked my eyes on the bloodstain for two seconds, and the panic set in. He looked petrified that I was going to draw a line between him and Vivian again.

One minute he was sulking like a kid, the next he was vibrating with an anxiety that made him look like he might collapse.

“I didn’t know she was coming. I didn’t invite her,” he rasped, the words tumbling out too fast, like he was terrified that if he didn’t say it now, I’d never listen to him again.

His voice pulled me out of the blackout.

I gave him a flat nod. I got it.

But I wasn’t going to ask how he got hurt. I didn’t care.

I remembered I’d left the sunroom in the greenhouse open when I bolted this morning, so I turned to go check on it.

Before I could take a step, his hand clamped onto my wrist from behind, spinning me back.

He didn’t wait for me to speak; he just launched into his defense. “She showed up screaming about you calling her a home- wrecker. She lost it. Spiraled into a manic state and went partial-shift. She was going for her own wrist, Seraphina. She was trying to kill herself. I didn’t think. I just lunged. I grabbed the claws. It was an accident.”

He stopped, his eyes darting around like he’d just realized how that sounded.

He started backtracking, the words getting messy. “I wasn’t… I wasn’t trying to get hurt for her. I was terrified she’d die in our house. They’d blame you. The pack would tear you apart. I…”

He was drowning in his own logic. We locked eyes, and the world just stopped. The lies, the excuses-they all got stuck in his

throat.

“So you’re telling me,” I said, my voice empty, nodding toward that jagged red stain on the rug, “that Vivian heard a rumor, had a psychotic break with her soul-fracture, and staged a suicide attempt? And that’s what I’m looking at?”

Mortimer opened his mouth, then shut it. He just nodded, his expression hollow.

Then he scrambled to add, “I know it’s not your fault.”

I tilted my head, letting the silence stretch for two cold beats. “Actually, it is. Vivian got called a home-wrecker because of me,”

I didn’t blink. I didn’t hesitate. My voice was as steady as a surgeon’s hand.

I wanted him to believe every word of it.

Mortimer just stared at me, dumbfounded.

I pulled out my phone, tapped his profile, and hit ‘send’ on a video file.

“Got this from healing center security. Looks like she got triggered pretty good.” I turned on my heel and headed for the terrace doors.

I genuinely hoped that video would show him exactly how ‘victimized’ his little wolf was. I wanted him to know I was the one who steered those strangers to crush her ego.

I wanted him to know she got triggered because of me, and that she almost cost him his dominant hand because of it.

He worshipped her. Once he saw the truth, he’d have to end this farce.

He’d have to break the contract. I had less than two months left, but even two months felt like a life sentence now.

1 cracked the terrace door and stepped out, then stopped dead.

The second floor of the Alpha villa is a 500-square-meter monster, with a massive 100-square-meter terrace wrapping around

When we ‘mated,’ he told me I could design it however I wanted. ‘Your house, your rules.’

I was a PhD candidate finishing my defense. I was drowning in work.

But because of those five words-‘I’ll do whatever you want-I spent every spare second I had, every hour of sleep I could steal, pouring myself into this space.

This 100-square-meter terrace was my masterpiece.

I drew the plans. I ordered every plant. I laid every stone.

Right at the edge, I’d installed a retractable greenhouse system.

When the sun was out, it slid back, revealing a stunning, living garden.

When the storms hit, I flipped a switch and it sealed the place tight against the snow.

I’d left it open this morning.
