Chapter 415
Tuff never saw it coming. His dad, the hardworking businessman who’d always been hustling to keep the family afloat, turned out to be a member of the Flying Tiger Sect. And not just any member–he was actually one of the top dogs!
He was the guy who could decide if Kayla was guilty or not, just like that. After a quick huddle with his fellow leaders, they even made Kayla official and gave her a legit spot on the team.
He hadn’t even finished quitting yet, and his wife was already getting hired. Talk about a plot twist.
Seriously, he couldn’t make this stuff up.
Landon was driving, and he couldn’t help but chuckle at Tuff’s frustrated face.
“Looks like Kayla’s gonna be your boss from now on,” Landon teased, barely holding back his laughter.
“Hasn’t she always been the one calling the shots?” Tuff replied.
Tuff let out a sigh.
Life in the underworld was full of chaos and trouble. He just wanted to go back to a simple, peaceful life. But with Kayla joining the team, that was never gonna happen.
With Kayla joining the team, there was no way life was ever going to be peaceful again.
“Maybe she actually likes the chaos,” Landon said, grinning from ear to ear.
Kayla had always been ambitious, but her whole life she’d been kept on a short leash, shuffled from place to place, never getting a real shot at her own career.
Now, finally, her chance had come.
All those skills she’d worked so hard to master could finally be put to use for her country. She had to be over the moon about it.
“Landon, I bet you’re trying to trip me up,” Tuff said, shooting Landon a sideways glare.
“No way,” Landon denied flatly.
Tuff huffed, “Don’t even try to deny it! That smug look on your face says you’re loving this.”
“Is it really that obvious? Guess I’d better fix my face,” Landon said, reaching up with one hand.
He rubbed his face, trying to force himself to look serious.
Tuff was just speechless.
When they got back to the Prescott family, Raymondand Kayla were already there, chatting with Betty.

Betty absolutely adored Kayla, and when she heard Kayla had landed an official position, she was over the
moon.
The Prescott family wasn’t hurting for money, but having a family member in an official job was like icing on
the cake.
“Tuff, your wife is amazing! She’s got a real job now,” Betty said, beaming.
“Yeah, she’s something else,” Tuff said, his voice trailing off, not sure whether to laugh or cry.
‘Honestly, I don’t even know what to say anymore, Tuff thought, feeling totally at a loss.
Raymondlooked at him and gave a gentle smile. “Your resignation’s getting approved tomorrow.”
“What?” Tuff was stunned.
“I already gave your amster a heads–up,” his dad added.
‘Classic Dad move,‘ he thought, half amused and half exasperated.
He couldn’t help but say, “So, since you guys are still working, maybe I don’t have to quit after all…?”
“Too late. It’s already been approved,” his dad cut him off.
Tuff was completely at a loss for words.
Kayla chuckled, “So, you guys went to Project Azureveil?”
“Yeah, we just got back. You two really blew us away,” Landon said.
“I never expected Raymondto be such a badass,” Kayla said with a grin.
Honestly, Kayla had always figured her secret would get out sooner or later, so she’d dropped some hints to Joyce on purpose.
She figured while Tuff and Landon still had some influence, it was the perfect chance to clear things up about her identity.
But then Dally showed up out of nowhere, and finding out Raymondwas a top leader at Project Azureveil? That was next–level surprising.
Kayla’s transition into the official team had been shockingly smooth.
From now on, she didn’t have to worry about her past anymore. She could live a clean, honest life, serving her country and its people.
All those years of hard work and training were finally making a real difference–no more being trapped in an office, buried under boring reports.
“Dad, how could you do this?” Tuff finally blew up.

“A real man keeps his word. What did you promise Dr. Shawn?” his dad shot back.
Tuff was left speechless.

‘Damn, I agreed to quit for Brian, but I never thought Kayla would be the one getting hired!‘ he thought, totally frustrated.
He almost wished he hadn’t quit. Maybe he should’ve just stuck it out and faced everything together with Kayla.
“It’s just a cushy position, not like I’ll actually have to do much,” Kayla said, trying to reassure him.
Tuff pouted, “Honey…”
“Relax, I’ve never really had a job before. I just want to give it a try,” Kayla said with a smile.
“Then what am I supposed to do?” Tuff asked, still sulking.
“Just run the company, Okay? And if the Prescott business isn’t enough to keep you busy, you can always help out with my new business too,” Kayla said, half–teasing.
The two of them kept teasing and comforting each other, all lovey–dovey, making the best of their crazy situation.
Meanwhile, Raymondand Landon headed out for drinks. Having been through thick and thin together in the same unit, they had endless stories to share.
They drank to their hearts‘ content and swapped stories late into the night.
The next day, Landon mailed the dossier Brian had sent right back to him.
“Brian, thanks for all your help. Kayla’s fine now, so I’m sending this back. It hasn’t gone public yet, so you should hang onto it,” Landon said.
When Brian got the package, he was caught off guard.
But remembering who Landon and Tuff really were, he relaxed.
‘Guess I was just being too anxious,‘ Brian thought.
Those two will definitely keep Kayla safe–no doubt about it.
“They don’t even care about what you did for them, do they?” Dally sneered, his voice cold and eyes burning with hatred.
“Dally, can’t we just live a peaceful life?” Brian said calmly as he packed up his things.
“Peaceful? How are we supposed to be at peace when they killed our parents?!” Dally shouted, his voice trembling with rage.
Brian lowered his gaze, his tone steady. “That was the wrong path from the start. I warned Mom and Dad

about it.”
“So what? Who says you gotta play by the rules your whole life?” Dally snapped.
“The law. Justice. Humanity,” Brian said flatly.
Brian just stared at Dally, completely speechless.
‘Man, he’s totally lost it. Good thing I showed up when I did, or who knows what kind of mess he’d have made,‘ Brian thought.
“Brian, you don’t even deserve the Shawn name. We’re family! What gives you the right to stand there acting all holier–than–thou, judging your own blood?” Dally spat.
“Say something, will you? What, you just gonna stand there and keep your mouth shut? If you wanna chicken out, fine, but don’t drag me down with you!” Dally snapped, his eyes blazing.
“I swear, I’m gonna get revenge for Mom and Dad, even if it kills me!” Dally shouted, his voice trembling with
rage.
“You’ve got a thing for Kayla, don’t you? What a wuss! If you like her so much, why don’t you just go for it? Keep acting like this and you’ll never have a shot,” Dally taunted, his tone full of scorn.
Dally had been drugged by Brian, so he couldn’t leave or even put up a fight.
All Dally could do was cuss Brian out.
He just kept running his mouth nonstop–yelling until he wore himself out, then taking a breather before starting up again.
Brian felt like his ears had grown calluses from all the noise.
Sometimes Brian tried to talk back, but if Dally didn’t listen, he just let it slide.
He was determined to keep Dally in check and make sure he didn’t stir up any more trouble.
“Brian, Kayla doesn’t even know you’re into her, does she? Why don’t you just come clean and tell her?” Dally taunted, his voice thick with sarcasm.
“Is it just because Tuff beat you to the punch? Don’t sweat it. If you really want her, I can help you out,” Dally continued, a sly grin spreading across his face.
“Brian, I’m not kidding. I know a guy who’s a real master at hypnosis. He could totally help you…” Dally lowered his voice conspiratorially.
Brian’s head snapped up, eyes sharp. “Who?”
