Fake Dating My Ex's Hockey Star Brother (Maya Scott) novel Chapter 113

BRAYDON’S POV

“What?”

Park adjusts his glasses, his calmness irritating me. “It’s not difficult to fabricate audio these days,” he says with a shrug that makes it sound trivial. “Technology has made everything… easier.”

“So your plan is to dismiss my evidence without even listening to it?” I ask, my voice tight.” What kind of lawyer does that?”

“Let’s hear it,” my father interjects, leaning back in his chair, his smirk barely hiding his amusement. I meet his gaze, and the arrogance in his posture is aggravating. “Show us the evidence.”

Rage coils in my chest, but Katy’s gentle touch on my hand calms me. She pulls her Mac from her bag, and after a few tense minutes, the recording begins.

Even as my father’s voice echoes clearly through the room, his expression remains the same. If anything, he seems more amused, as if none of this matters. I hope that facade lasts until the very end when I destroy his confidence.

Mr. Park, on the other hand, is visibly on edge. His jaw clenches and unclenches, betraying the tension he tries to hide. He knows this evidence is solid. His earlier dismissal was meant to shake me, to make me doubt myself but I’ve passed that point. I’m done letting intimidation dictate my actions.

Once the audio ends, silence settles over the room and a few seconds pass before I clear my throat.

“No one in this room can deny the voice we just heard,” I say. “Do you still think it’s fabricated?”

Mr. Park adjusts his glasses again. “Braydon, this is an audio recording with no accompanying visuals. No video, no images. You should understand that this alone can’t-”

“You’re wrong,” I cut in. “And if you were about to say this wouldn’t stand in court, then you’re either lying or you’re a terrible lawyer.”

His mouth opens, but I keep going. “Along with this recording, I have two witnesses to the conversation that took place that day.” I glance at Katy and she nods. “My girlfriend, as you just heard in the audio, and a server from Greeze Bar, where the meeting occurred.”

Park scoffs lightly. “For all we know, she’s conspiring with you. I’m trying to protect you from

“Shut up,” I snap. Park freezes, staring at me like he can’t believe he actually stopped mid-sentence. “Don’t say another word, not unless you’re prepared to make this worse for yourself.”

Katy leans forward. “Mr. Park, I’m sure you understand that perjury is a serious crime. No one here has any reason to lie to a court.” I see his eyes twitch in response to her words. “We’re fully prepared to take this to litigation. You’ll be up against attorneys from one of the top firms in New York.” She pauses, then continues. “The only reason they aren’t here right now is because Braydon respected everyone in this room enough to keep this civil. But if you want more evidence, if you want this to escalate, we’re more than willing to accommodate.”

“And who exactly are you to threaten us?” Mr. Park snaps.

“Don’t speak to her like that,” I bark.

“Everyone here is family,” he shoots back, throwing up a hand. “She’s not part of this. She has no standing.”

“She has every right,” I say, my hands shaking with restrained fury. “She is my family. Respect her, or this meeting ends here and the next time we talk, it’ll be in court.”

Mr. Park jumps to his feet, huffing and running a hand through his hair. He looks desperate, like the walls are closing in and there’s nothing left he can do. My old man remains quiet, probably restrained by Park, but his face betrays everything he hasn’t said: his fear, anger, frustration, and the faintest hint of him already breaking.

“You keep threatening us with court,” Mr. Park snaps, turning back toward us. “Do you really think we can’t win this?”

“No. You won’t,” Katy interrupts, a small smile on her face. Park looks horrified and infuriated every time she speaks. “I may not be a mathematician or even a lawyer, but I’d estimate your chances at less than half a percent. You know it. And you also know the circumstances surrounding the origin of this deal were sketchy….that’s why you’ve kept it hidden from the police, the media, and anyone not in the family. My advice? Stop wasting your energy here and focus on making sure Bryan doesn’t end up in jail.”
