Fake Dating My Ex's Hockey Star Brother (Maya Scott) novel Chapter 179

FLASHBACK

JUSTIN’S POV

I push open the door to Katy’s dorm room and almost collide with someone. In the split second before she hits the ground, I grab her wrist and pull her close.

Looking down, Allison’s face meets mine, her cheeks flushed, eyes wide, and a familiar spark lighting her expression.

“Justin!” she slurs, her smile widening. “You’re here too.”

I glance around the room and it’s just her and me here. No one else.

She reeks of alcohol, and even as she steps back, the wobble in her stance tells me she’s had more than enough.

“Why are you drinking again?” I ask, reaching out, but before I can touch her, she bolts. She dashes back into her room and comes out with a bottle of wine, giggling as she takes a swig.

I sigh.

This is the third time I’ve walked in here and found her completely hammered. It’s becoming ahabit and that’s not good.

I close the distance between us, reaching for the bottle, but she quickly hides it behind her back, wobbling as she giggles like this is some game.

“Give it to me, Allison,” I snap, grabbing her shoulders to hold her in one place. She struggles, twisting to get free, but I hold her tightly and manage to wrestle the bottle from her hands.

“That’s mine!” She tries to fight with me, but I lift the bottle just out of reach above my head. Her eyes narrow, then glint with mischief, and she smirks. “You’re a bad boy.”

I frown. “Where’s Katy? What’s wrong with you?”

She lunges for the bottle, but I step back, and she groans in frustration. “You’re so boring. Give me that. I’m celebrating!”

“That’s what you said last time and you ended up puking all over your room,” I say, shaking my head. “You want to do that again tonight?”

“That was a bad day,” she mumbles, rubbing her face. “Today’s a good day. I got into drama club and it’s the best thing ever.”

I raise an eyebrow. “And this is your bright idea of celebrating?” I shoot her a disappointed look, though I know she barely notices. “Sit down. I’ll get you some water.”

She sways slightly, trying to keep her eyes open. “Katy’s gone for some night class… for…” She counts on her fingers, blinking slowly and then lifts her hand. “Five hours. I’m alone.”

I sigh, letting my hand drop to my side as I just watch her. I know the drama club results for new members came out today, and she was third on the list. They rank everyone based on tests and brief auditions, and considering she’s not even an art student, it’s kind of impressive. Very impressive and I wanted to celebrate it with her.

The tickets for Five Nights at Freddy’s are in my pocket and I was hoping to ask her to come with me but judging by the way she’s barely keeping her eyes open, that plan’s a bust.

“Come here,” I say, taking her hand and guiding her toward her room. There’s still days left to ask her so I’m not totally out of chances yet.

Inside, I carefully set the bottle on her desk, then help her onto the bed, making sure she’s settled comfortably before letting go.

Once she’s tucked under the blanket, I start to turn away but her grip falls on my arm. I spin around, and before I can react, she tugs my shirt toward her and presses her lips against mine.

For a second, I freeze, shock rooting me to the spot. Then instinct kicks in, and I put a small distance between us.

My heart is pounding like it’s trying to escape my chest, my fingers trembling as I lift them to my lips. She kissed me. What the actual fuck.

“I think I like you, Justin.” She whispers, a faint smile tugging at her lips before she goes silent.

I just stand there, frozen like a mannequin, my legs refusing to move. My heart pounds in my ears, every beat loud enough to drown out reason.

Everything about Allison has always been off-limits I knew it. I knew it would be complicated getting involved with my sister’s friend and roommate. They’ve been getting closer and bonding as each day passes so I’ve always known it would be weird.

But that doesn’t change the fact that I’ve wanted her. Cooper thinks it doesn’t matter, but I’ve held myself back, partly because I was convinced she liked one David guy. Now… it feels like the universe is handing me a sign on a silver platter.
