Fake Dating My Ex's Hockey Star Brother (Maya Scott) novel Chapter 190

JUSTIN’S POV

The crowd roars as the puck drops at center ice, a loud crack echoing through Cadston Arena.

Home ice feels electric tonight, our barn packed with students in red and gold, chanting for us while the visiting Terriers from BU try to settle in. This is the third period, we are tied 2-2, just under eight minutes left. My legs burn from the last shift, but adrenaline keeps me going anyway.

I line up at left wing on the draw while Cooper is center, crouching low with his eyes locked on the ref’s hand. Luke’s on my right as right wing, Martin anchoring defense behind us, and Jude ready to jump in if we break out. Zach’s in net, his glove tapping his pad like he always does when he’s dialed in.

Braydon wins the draw clean, pulling it back to Martin on the left point. I explode up the wing, hugging the boards, my stick on the ice, and calling for it.”

“Here, Marty!” The pass comes hard, tape-to-tape and I trap it without breaking stride. I carry through the neutral zone, shoulder-checking the BU defenseman pinching in.

He’s big and rough but I cut inside, protecting the puck with my body, my left shoulder turned. Luke’s streaking down the right side, drawing the other D wide while Cooper is curling through the high slot, ready.

Their winger backchecks hard, sticks me up against the half-wall in the offensive zone. I feel his blade hook my stick but I manage to spin off him, and chip the puck off the boards behind their net. Cooper battles for it in the corner, wins it off the glass, and rims it up to me at the top of the left circle.

Time slows. The puck feels perfect on my forehand and I rip it as hard as I can.

The goalie snaps his pad out and the rebound kicks right to Luke, who buries the one-timer top shelf. The lamp lights, the horn blares, and the bench erupts.

I skate over, tapping Luke’s helmet. “Nice finish, man.” He grins.

Cooper slaps my back. “Beautiful dish, Jus. Keep feeding us like that.”

“Did you hear what that asshole Miller said?” Luke slams his locker shut and spins around to face us. “He said he’s gonna mess with our girls. Can you imagine that?”

I scoff under my breath, shaking my head. Luke always goes nuclear when his ladies’ man reputation feels even slightly threatened. And the captain from BU…a tall, lanky, smug as hell guy, what was his name again? Miller? The guy definitely just hit a nerve.

Honestly, I doubt Luke even cares about our win tonight.

“Do you even have a girl?” Jude asks, crouched as he laces his skates. “Or are you just being a sore winner?”

Luke looks personally attacked. “Girl? I have women. Women.”

“Then relax,” Cooper cuts in, smirking. “He’s not after your women.”
